First full day with pump

Started my pump yesterday, and after a few frustrating hours of running a bit on the high side, highest was 235 since I hadn't had my Lantus since the morning before (and that day was just a BAD day), my numbers started coming back down wonderfully. By midnight they were perfect. Woke up at 73 so for me that is amazing. I think they may tweak that overnight basal a tiny bit cause I tend to run very low overnight. But Im really loving it so far. And now that I've stabalized from the switch, I can really see now how well my basals are set, but so far so good. LOL though that CareLink driver was a pain to set up. Something about Windows 7 and CareLink, and having to open your internet browser under an Administrator account. But finally got that figured out and up and running, so overall Im quite pleased with my first day.

I'm glad to hear you had a relatively smooth transition and are enjoying the pump so far! I remember my total amazement that the doc and MM SalesNurse turned my utterly gibberished log into a very close approximation of what the settings needed to be pumpwise and that it was pretty close out of the gate.

Mine weren't to far off. went in briefly today for a pump check, and the CDE tweaked my 1200 AM- to 6 AM basal decreased it a bit, cause I drop really low at night, and then also increase my 7 AM to 10 PM basal a bit cause I was still running a little high this morning 2 hours after breakfast, but yes it is going pretty smoothly, its kinda weird lol skipping those shots. But Im liking it.

I too was shocked when my haphazard logs were actually turned into fairly accurate basal rates! I asked my endo about this and she actually explained to me what they look for. I've had to make some tweaks here and there, but mostly because of my own schedule changes and such.

The pump really is nice, especially if you're someone who is active. The biggest PLUS for me being on the pump is that my highs and lows are not as extreme. I still have lows, but they are easier to catch and less severe (as in, I'm not losing conciousness).

And I LOVE Carelink. My endo's office has my password and they can log on and look at my data.

My only complaint about Carelink is that there is no mobile option at this time; in that, I cannot have an app on my iPhone that allows me to enter in additional information into the Carelink system (such as type of exercise or other other comments). Being able to do that would be a HUGE help in discerning patterns.

Yes I am loving the CareLink too. Im not as active as I'd like to be, bad knee but I drop so low so fast with MDI, that I think this will be really good. Just the option of cutting back if you start dropping, or suspending for a bit Im sure will really minimize those lows too. Def much easier to catch those lows and treat in the 60's versus down in the 30's. Im excited about playing around with the dual wave bolus cause i REALLY love Chinese food, but I find it really hard to eat using MDI. Excited to really start playing around with this.
