I have a question for Animas Pump users. I can trade in my Animas 2020 pump and upgrade to a PING under the plan that is set up for the Cozmo pump users. The out of pocket cost for me will be $200. My pump is about two years old and my health insurance plan only allows an upgrade after 5 years.
Question; Do you think that this a good deal and what else should I be thinking about and considering before I make the move?

I wish I could tell you more but The Ping is my first pump and I only started with it on 1 april. I love it and my control since starting has been excellent. I went swimming for the firt time with it yesterday and had no problems after 3 hours in the pool. If I had to pay $200 for it I definately would. I use the remote option from the meter all the time as it can be awkward for me to pull the pump out while on the rifle range or other situations unique to the military. Best of luck to you in making the decision.
If you can’t upgrade for another 3 years, and it’s only $200, it sounds like a good deal, Just remember that the warranty will be the same as your pump you have now. I know they should be having a new pump with CGM integration at the end of the year, and I’m sure there will be an upgrade offer then too. If you might be interested in that, I would wait.
I’m in the exact same situation and was wondering the same thing. So I am glad you asked the question. I will be going to an Animas class on Saturday. I asked the rep who will be running the program if she would have a Ping with her and she said she would. So I will have a chance to actually look at it and compare it to my 2020. I will let you know after Saturday if I have any new thoughts on the subject.
Thanks for the feedback. I decided to go ahead with the trade in and upgrade. The price is right and the Ping will be more suitable for my lifestyle and activities. I like the fact that the Ping remote is also a meter and its about the size of the One Touch Ultra Smart meter that I carry with me and use now. But now when I work out (resistance training) I do a blood sugar test with the meter and then manually enter the number on the pump using the ezBG. With the Ping Remote/meter the blood sugar number will go to the pump automatically.
As for the integration of a CGM with the pump, I would like to see a sensor that lasts for a month or more and I think that will be the next big improvement with the CGM devices along with a number of others that are being developed and worked on. Thanks again.

Yes - I just did and I figure that even though it still has the same warranty as my 2020, that it is a newer pump even if recertified and it might help me get more mileage out of pumping.
I’m really loving the Ping so far. Well worth the $200.
