Any difference between 630 and 670 MM pump besides Auto Mode?

My 530 is easy for me to see in bright light; hard to see in dim unless I turn on the backlight. The t:slim is nearly impossible to see in DIRECT sunlight. It’s sorta tolerable if I shield it from the sun with my body. I don’t own one, but I had a rep out to the house yesterday for a demo. I’m not eager to get ANY type of newer pump than my reliable 530, despite a lack of integration with the G5.

Guardian vs. Enlite Sensors. The Guardian sensors give smoother curves which I attribute to improved tape. On the negative side, my Guardian sensors calibrate low and drift low(er) over a few hours.

Interesting hack–hadn’t thought of it when I was on auto. I was cautioned against the “phantom bolus” trick on the basis it could confuse the algorithm (dunno if that’s true; certainly lots of people do it anyway), but it sounds like this would bypass that concern. Clever!

I wonder if this is because the 670 was “told”, bolus was delivered, and this changes its calculations, where a prime would be ignored.

The 670 pump has to handle a drop in BG that may be due to exercise, so a prime causing drop might be similar. A drop based on bolus may make assumptions about how long it is active.

There is another difference between the 530g vs the 630g and the 670g. The 600 series has a wonderful new breakaway belt clip. Oh my goodness what a great improvement.

I am a Medtronic ambassador. My opinions are my own. They did not pay me to say nice things. OK, they sent me a shirt and a cup but even I am more expensive than that.

My 530 clip broke today. They break about once a year, I think. And it is the “good” one–the gray one. The clear ones are garbage.

I may be wrong but the new design is so well done I do not think it will break nearly as often as the clear ones. I used a gray one for several years before I broke it. The new ones actually have a second hing that breaks away when it is pulled.

For the 530 or the 630/730? EDIT: typo! I meant of course, the 630/670. My fingers are quicker than my brain.

The new clip is for the 630 and 670. It is remarkable, I have pulled it several times without it breaking. I love that it has a second pull away hinge that actually pivots the entire pump when it is pulled. I am very impressed.

That is true! I’ve been on automode for 4 months. A1C went from 6.6 to 8.1. I’m going back for more training.

I just spoke with my local MM rep about a demo. She really tried to talk up the 670; about how great it is and how it will reduce high bg’s in auto mode. I cut her off with,“I’m only interested in the 630 because you no longer have the 530 for sale and my pump is out of warranty. I’ll NEVER use MM sensors again, in this lifetime”. It’s a shame the 670 algorithms aren’t so great, and the sensor aren’t up to the task of working well enough to make this sort of “automated pump” a reality. Reality doesn’t seem to phase salespeople; they will continue to spout the company line about a product.

Sorry to hear your experience with it was THAT bad. That’s awful. What works for me currently is a decent pump (without any feedback from a sensor), and a really good CGM (read: Dexcom G5). Yes, I have to wear extra equipment but I actually LIKE having a dedicated receiver on my waistband for the CGM data. Many folks want CGM and pump gear all rolled into one. In a perfect world, that would be great, but for ME, it’s about having the best of each device.
