Anyone else TTC here?

Just curious.
I’ve been for about 2 cycles now and wanted to know who else was out there!

Well, actually we will be TTC in about 15 days, not that it’s planned out or anything:)
Good luck to you!
Just curious where is your A1c at, or anyone else that replys to this! It’s intresting to see what the diff endo/ob combo’s suggest! It seems the more I think/plan the steeper the roller coaster of sugars is! I think there can actually be too much anticipation!
I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers in the next couple months!
Sarah

We will be in a year  Keep us posted on how you are doing!

Hi Sarah,
Thanks for your reply! My a1c is 6.7. I’m on top of it as much as I can be, but we all know how that goes
It was now or never for me, as I’m in the “older” range at 37 and this would be my first.

Keep me posted on how you are doing, too. I’d love a “buddy” to compare notes with!!

Thanks, Kristen!

We will be officially TTC in September! LOL
Check out the Diabetic Mommy website - Ive found some great info and support over there!

Thanks Stacey! I post over there, too (not often, though!)

Di–
I never saw that you replied! I’m glad I came back to check again! My a1c is at 6.7 also and it has been for a year! I am 8 WEEKS! So…we are very excited, but catious and nervous! Let the worrying begin!!! How are things going for you?

Sarah! How exciting!!! Congratulations!

I am in the 2ww right now-will find out next week. I’ll keep you posted!

Just thought I’d join this thread. We’ve been ttc for 19months now and nothing to show for it I’m afraid. We are seeing specialists now and hoping that something will come from the medication I am now on. From all the bloods and the hysteroscopy, all seems ok with me. My husbands swimmers dont swim as well as they should but hopefully things will happen for us soon.

Congratulations Sarah! I’m hoping that all is well and that you’re pregnancy is going well. I’m also hoping that this ttc journey will be short one for us all!

Thanks Naomi–

I will pray that the medications start working for you! I’m sure it’s very stressful!
Things are going ok for the most part…I’m trying my hardest to not stress over numbers!!!
Keep us posted on how things are goin!

Y’all are so sweet to ask, as it feels very lonely TTC! It’s not really an accepted topic of casual conversation. Plus, I feel embarrassed to say anything, in case we’re not successful! But, since you asked, I will gladly join your conversation!

My husband and I have been preparing to conceive for 6 months now. (It’s taken me that long to work up my nerve, and get my A1C down to 6.1) We began TTC in August, and I was so sad when I got my period on Friday. Bummer!

So, I hope we can try again in these next 2 weeks. Though, my DH does not want to raise a child born under the astrology sign Cancer (too crabby!), and if we conceived this month, the due date would be June 25th (4 days into Cancer), so I don’t know if I can convince him. But diabetics usually have their babies early, right? (I’ve heard that there is forced induction at 39 weeks.) So, that would still be Gemini… ;D

I’ve also found good support on the yahoo group “Positive Diabetic Pregnancies” (which is for type 1’s only). I’m really new here on TuD, is TuD for only type 1’s, too? Or are there type 2’s here as well?

Hi everyone, Just joined tudiabetes because I saw this post! We’re ttc and I just went off the pill and they put me on insulin even though my A1c is 6.3. Nothing happened this first month but keep your fingers crossed for me for this month. Good luck to all the ladies out there trying! Has anyone else had a doctor put them on insulin BEFORE they’re even pregnant?

Hi Shilpa,
I’ve been on insulin for 26 years now; so, technically yes, a doctor put me on insulin BEFORE I was pregnant! Probably not the answer you were looking for, but there are a lot of us here doing pregnancy on insulin. You are in good company!
Elizabeth

good luck to you Naomi. We have been ttc since June 08, had a set back last december with a miscarraige and then no luck since. It is very discouraging and disappointing as each month passes. People keep telling me it will happen so I have to hang onto that. I am so glad for this place because it helps me to realize that I am not alone. I hope the medication works for you soon!

Hi everyone! I am glad to have stumbled upon this group, and this particular post. My husband and I have been TTC for four months. No luck yet, though I have dropped too-many-to-say-out-loud dollars on pregnancy tests and ovulation kits. I’m not sure I ovulate regularly, actually, which is a huge part of the challenge. I was on BC for nearly 14y, and I can’t help but wonder whether getting off of it has been taking its time (irregular cycles, some of them fairly long). It’s really frustrating when it seems like others accomplish this most desired goal so effortlessly.

Any thoughts on what role diabetes plays in all this? I did spend a fair amt of time and effort getting my A1c down to 6.3; that was in July, and I expect it’s lower now. It’s almost like I want it to happen now so I don’t risk missing my A1c window, though of course I know I will work that much harder to keep it low if/when I do conceive. I just could use some cheerful thoughts from folks who have been in this boat, and perhaps are already on the “other” side (ie. DID get pregnant and have had healthy pregnancies). That being said, I know how important it is to connect with others still in this boat, so I’d be glad, of course, to hear from you too.

Oh, I’m in that boat with ya!
Just bought a new box of ovulation kits today!

Yes, I’m in this boat, too! We’ve been trying to conceive for 2 months, and here is what I have learned thus far:

  1. www.fertilityfriend.com is awesome. I highly recommend it!
  2. The $1.00 pregnancy tests sold at the dollar store are more sensitive than the expensive varieties (says a large number of people on other TTC boards).
  3. Pre-seed is the only lubricant that doesn’t interfere with sperm, and actually helps them swim.
  4. Caffeine can interfere with fertility–(I cut my intake down to “rarely”)
  5. Elevated blood sugars can interfere with fertility (but you sound like you have that situated already).
  6. Elevated stress levels can interfere with fertility.
  7. It is possible to conceive for several days AFTER ovulation. (I seriously did not know that, and we had quit trying as soon as I ovulated! Next month will be different!)
  8. Two of my cousins swear by the “Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor”, saying that after months of frustration, they conceived the very first month after establishing a baseline cycle with Clearblue. (I think I might be trying this out soon!)
Have y’all learned any additional tips, thus far?

I have been TTC for over 15 months since our wedding in August 2008. I have kept my A1C under 7.0 since then and have had the ok from my endocrinologist all these months, but so far no luck. It has been incredibly frustrating, especially with my 35th birthday looming next month. My husband and I have both had some preliminary testing done - his sperm count is fine, and my tests have come back fine (blood tests for hormone levels and an ultrasound of my ovaries). My family doctor finally referred me to a gynocologist to look into it further, but my appointment isn’t until Feb 2010. It seems so far away!

I know how you feel, Lori. I’m 35 and have been TTC for two years. Unfortunately, we learned that my husband has some issues, which are (hopefully) being resolved. It’s the hardest thing to get my period each month. Like a lot people out there, I’ve spent far too much money on pregnancy tests. Just once, I want to see two lines . . .
