Have any other members received their T:Slim? I haven't seen any posts in this group and I'm just wondering if anyone else is having as much trouble as I am.
Also wondering how it's going for those lucky enough to have already received theirs!

I started using mine on Sept. 4th and I absolutely love it! I have had no problems whatsoever. If you have specific questions, I would be glad to answer them.
I do. There's a silver button on the side in the video that's supposed to be used as a quick bolus. I am afraid I'll accidentally press it in my jeans pocket. Is there a lock or some feature to keep it from being pressed or have you not had that problem? What if you put it in your bra? Would the sides be pressed then?
Thanks! Very curious!
The quick bolus is the silver button on top of the pump that you use to turn your screen on. For the quick bolus you have to hold it down for a few seconds before you get an audible alert that you are ready to put in your increments of bolus that you preprogrammed. If there are no button pushes within a few seconds, it gives you another audible signal and then turns off. You can turn quick bolus on or off. I don't think it is possible to accidentally give yourself insulin with it on, as you have to press the right buttons for it to actually start the bolus. I hope that makes sense. I wear mine comfortably in my bra or in my pants pocket and no buttons are able to be pushed. Also, when you turn the screen on, you have to push 1, 2 and 3 for your start screen. This prevents accidental button pushing.
I should have made myself clearer...the problem I am having is actually getting the T:Slim. I submitted paperwork in Aug. but am still trying to have it approved. Tandem is having issues with my insurance company and with finding a distributor.
I was wondering if it was really worth it to continue waiting for the pump. I'm running into the issue of having to order more supplies for my current pump because they have no answer as to when it will be shipped.
Maybe I just needed some reassurance that it will be worth the wait. Hearing Linda say that she loves it gives me some hope!
keep checking with them. idk what insurance you have or the distributor your have to go through. My paperwork was in back in june and i just was called today from edgepark they are sending mine today and i should have it this weekend, monday at the latest. I had to keep asking and Tandem never had answers, but edgepark just received them in. mine is covered by BC BS of MN.
ok this time was the distributor holding things up. they finally are getting things straight on how to bill insurance for the tslim and mine was shipped today and will be here on friday(i have the tracking number) i will finally get to compare it to the others i have had.
Lizbrei, have you heard anything about who the distributor is for you? I have to deal with Edgepark Medical for mine and they finally have all the codes to bill insurance. I thought insurance was the hold up but it was the coding they need to bill insurance.
good luck, hope you hear soon.
I also have Edgepark Medical. I'm calling them today to see if they are set up in NY to be the distributor.
I spoke with Tandem on Tuesday, they said they are waiting on paperwork from my CDE but she has sent it to them (over and over during the past four weeks) via email, fax, secured email and regular mail. They said that they will check to see if it's come in. This has gone on for over four weeks now. They clearly have a problem with incoming paperwork.
Tandem also said my insurance carrier is not approving me...then they said Edgepark is not set up yet to distribute...then they said they haven't received my CDE's paperwork yet. Starting see a pattern???
I've confirmed that my CDE has sent the paperwork continuously for the past four weeks and I've called my insurance carrier; they said that Tandem hasn't even submitted the paperwork yet! They couldn't have rejected it if they haven't recieved the paperwork.
So here I sit, almost two months into this process and I still have no idea when or if I am ever getting the T:Slim. This is so disappointing!
I went directly through Tandem to get mines. It was a pain and I'm still having some billing issues but I'm sure it'll get worked out. They're a new start up company so there's some kinks in the armor. I was using the animas infusion sets because I was afraid of using anything else. I tried the Cleo and have had better numbers!
pics of tandem with omnipod and minimed.

My CDE ordered the animas infusion sets for me as well. I wanted to try the Cleo but I've been using the Mio, which is Medtronic's version. Maybe I can ask for some samples.
Thanks for responding. It is a new startup and I'm trying to be patient.
Thanks for the pictures, I'm glad you finally got your T:slim. Let me know how it's going!
The MIO is only like the Cleo in the sense they sound the same.
The complexity of the MIO is much higher, which raises the likely hood of propblems. Looks like 10 steps to get it working ?
The Fact that the MIO tubing can only connect at one angle is different.
The amount of trash generated appears to be MUCH higher for the MIO
With the cleo you open the set by twisting off the cap, peel off the adhesive cover and press it against your skin. Put the peeled paper in the cap and screw it back on the empty inserter and it goes in trash.
currently i am making a list of questions for the rep cause im not impressed with it wanting a bolus every hour or two, even during the night. my minimed doesnt do that.
filling tubing is very slow, be prepared to spend 20 min to set up.
all my alerts and alarms are off but it alarms every hour or two and doesnt give a reason why. more button pressed for bolus compared to any pumps i have had before.
so far im not impressed.
Kat - Thanks for the frank review. It’s why I frequent this site. I was initially very enthusiastic about this pump. Everything I read impressed me. But when I found out that Tandem did not allow trials and adopted a no money back no return policy, I gave up on them and decided to wait.
What companies like Tandem fail to appreciate is that we diabetics usually depend on an insurance company to pay for this expensive device and we make a commitment lasting for the duration of the warranty period. In this case that’s four years. While I like innovation, I need a pump that can reliably perform 24/7/365. And I need a customer service policy and that will go to great lengths to help me maintain my pump with overnight delivery of a replacement pump wherever and whenever I need it.
I wish you well and hope that Tandem will treat you right.
I understand they have changed the no refund policy - call them
I love the Cleo 90. I have only ever used Medtronic Quicksets for the last 12 years and the Cleo 90 is smaller, more comfortable, and stickier. I'm through my second day of use and very pleased.
My experience with Tandem was very similar to what I hear everyone else describing. I thought the problem was with my distributor, but it was first in getting the distributor contract finished up, then getting the pump to the distributor. Now, unfortunately, my distributor did tell me that my Medtronic Quicksets would work with the t:slim and after ruining two cartridges and an entire vial of insulin I called Tech support and discovered the truth. They rushed me replacement insulin, two new cartridges and the filler syringes so I'm back to full stock.
I would encourage those that are waiting to be patient and not give up on Tandem just because of a little early disorganization. I think this is a company that has a bright future in diabetes management. I'm bought in thus far.
They have changed their refund policy, have the same as other brands overnight replacement if something goes wrong and also has a vacation loaner. Plus, my doctor's office has several pumps that I could "trialed". Check with yours and maybe they will have some too.
I have read that tandem is trying to get the approval that the t:slim is waterproof not just water resistant. I am started to think I will stay with the t:slim due to this feature. we go fishing during both summer and winter and there is always the chance of my pump getting wet and dont want to take chances. I have not met with the rep yet to confirm this information or ask my other questions. I will be meeting with her next week.
I will keep everyone here informed of my findings from her. thanks all.
