Linda - Thanks for the news. I was incredulous when they told me about their initial no-trial, no-money-back policy. Do you know if Tandem has adopted a money-back guarantee during a short initial period following purchase, like 30 days?
I'm a bit concerned with Kat's description above complaining about a long (20 mins?) new site set-up time and her irritation at the number of key-pushes for a bolus. She's also bothered by a never ending series of nagging alarms. You seem to be content with the t:slim. Do these things bother you?
I would like to get a new pump before the end of the year.
Hi Terry, I am not sure about a refund in the initial 30 days. This is what I found on their page which is in the material you receive with your pump:
24-hour Product Replacement and Travel Loaner Programs The t:slim Insulin Pump is covered by a 4-year warranty, which includes our 24-hour Product Replacement Program. If you will be traveling outside of the areas serviced by the 24-hour Product Replacement Program, Tandem also offers a Travel Loaner Program which allows you to borrow a backup t:slim Pump for the duration of your trip. For more information, give us a call at (877) 801-6901.
I agree with Kat that the tube filling takes a bit longer than my previous pump, but it is not something by an means that would make me want to stop using it. As far as key pushes, I am also not bothered by the number of times I have to push the key, because having the key pad and the ability to enter numbers as on a calculator instead of up and down arrows until you get to the right number is much faster to me. I am not sure what alarms she is talking about. You have the ability to set reminders for low BG, high BG, After Bolus BG, Missed meal bolus, all of which you can set or turn off completely. The only alert you can't turn off is the low insulin alert and an occlusion alarm, both of which I like and certainly don't bother me. I wonder if she had one of those on and didn't turn them off or have it set correctly. All in all, I am still thrilled with it and wouldn't go back to my old pump for anything!
Thanks, Linda. It's nice to get a contrasting perspective. The fact that you wouldn't go back to your old system says a lot. I will continue to follow the comments here as time goes by. If yours and others experience remains overall positive over time, that will persuade me to give this product another serious look. Thank you for answering my questions!
Terry please dont get too discouraged, as I mentioned I still have to meet with the rep, to have all my questions answered and find out setting adjustments that will stop the alarms. I was hoping to meet with her this week but that is not going to happen, it is looking like November before I can set things up cause my CDE wants the meeting at her office to learn at the same time.
with my previous pumps i set them up myself and met with my CDE to make sure all the adjustments were right. With the t:slim I am concerned due to my carple tunnel surgery. open 2 packages to connect syringe with needle to fill with insulin, open package to get the resevour, wait for resevour to set up, put in insulin and wait again. open package for tubing, hook up and then open and place inset. wait for tubing to fill slowly then connect and fill canula. place in holder and then go.
