Bad but not surprising A1c result

I took a Reli-On home A1c test Monday, mailed it in the same day and had email tonight letting me know the test result was ready. Five days - not bad!

I logged in and was not surprised to find that it was 8.5. Not good, I know, but considering the fact that I’ve been out of control and just recently started trying to gain control again it could have been worse. I know 8.5 sucks, really I do! But I’d prepared myself for something more like 10 or 11 or worse. Not that that justifies anything. Oh hell, I’m rambling.

At any rate, I see my doctor next week and he’ll do his tests and we’ll see how the Reli-On home test compares to the one the doctor does.

I’ve even ordered my butt shield since he’s going to chew my ■■■ over the A1c. And I deserve it so I’ll take it like the good patient I am (ha!) and wow him in May with a 4.7. A girl can dream!

Hi Denise! I have had that feeling before… I was expecting an A1c above 10 and it was somewhere around 8.

Try and keep the conversation positive with your doctor. Tell them that you want to do better and ask for suggestions. Doesn’t sound like you need to be scolded!! Let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the support! I’m really working hard to keep this under control. As y’all know, it isn’t easy!
