Below 100!

For the first time since my diagnosis in April, I have a BG below 100 - it is 98 at the moment and I am thrilled! It’s a combo of Levemir (9 units am and pm) and watching my carbs. I am not low-carb, but I keep them below 100/day.

I was certain that I would also need bolus insulin, but avoiding the foods that cause me trouble (yogurt and white rice being major culprits) may stave that off a bit. Oddly, I am fine with potatoes.

Anyway, I am thrilled and I wanted to share! Thanks for all of the advice you’ve given me to get me here.

Congratulations!!!

Awesome. Just got the first morning reading under 100. Other numbers for me started to look good after meds awhile ago. I just bought some yogurt though. Can I eat that,?

Great work @Cate_Williams! Glad to hear that you’ve found something that’s working for you! Stay vigilant, though - this “beast” is ever-so tricky…

@McChesney. we all react differently to foods. Some are gluten sensitive, some have issues with dairy, and others have problems with legumes – and some don’t. The only way for you to find out what works for YOU is to experiment. What works well for me, is a nightmare for others - and the reverse. I usually do well with blueberries, strawberries, pineapple and watermelon, but blackberries spike me through the roof. @Cate_Williams does well with potatoes, and many do well with sweet potatoes; potatoes are always very tough on me and sweet potatoes give me a high that lasts for HOURS. (I happen to do OK with yogurt.)

Every day, every meal, every food choice is an experiment. Everything we find that works is a victory!

Thanks. I believe that. Kojak is on. I think we all love life.

“Avoiding the foods that cause me trouble”----that’s key. Well done!
