I know this was brought up a while back..but Im looking for a case for the PDM thats big enough to hold strips and lancing device, that is easy to carry around. I hate lugging the "big" bag around when I go to the casino, etc.
It just fits the PDM, and I keep the other stuff in my pockets, but it has worked pretty well. I don't use the PDM for BG checks, so keeping all that stuff together is not optimal for me, anyway.
I know people dont use it as their BG checker..but I guess I dont understand why not? Thought it was funny they asked that same thing on the survey Insulet sent out a couple days ago
My primary reason is that my insurance company moved the compatible test strips to their highest-priced tier, while the OneTouch strips are in the lowest-priced tier. Couple that with the fact that people keep offering me free OneTouch UltraMini BG monitors and it was an easy decision: $40/month vs. $10/month for the copays means more money for other stuff, and the OneTouch UltraMini doesn't take up a lot of room.
Oh, and the FreeStyle strips went through a change and the new ones weren't so compatible with the PDM and people were having to make changes to the codes to get them to be more accurate... just too much hassle along with the added expense.
Gotcha...I guess I just dont want to carry around 2 things.
I have a lot of Accu Check Aviva strips on hand..may use those for a while since its obvious my new PDM isn't coming before my warranty date is up, and I only have a few pods left....yay MDI.....
We use the bag from Sugar Medical supply. It holds our PDM, lancing device and strips. It also has loop that will hold insulin. It has a zip pocket that will hold a couple of syringes too. We don't have the one specifically for the Omnipod, but we love ours. We attached a carbinger clip to ours so he can hook it to his belt if he wants. I use it to carry it by...
Check out the FreeStyle Promise program. I have to order monthly to take full advantage, but they reimburse up to $50/month for the BG strips which work in the PDM. If your pharmacy takes the supplemental card, it is super easy. If not (like me with Medco/Express Scripts) you'll have to submit a claim form and wait two weeks for a check.
I will probably end up using the rest of my accu check strips and meter while insulet continues their circus of obtaining the new PDM. I have 4 pods left, and will have to go to MDI til the new PDM comes...frustrating since i have 4 boxes of shiny new smaller pods
This company has a ton of products of various sizes to accommodate medical and other stuff. The "large pocket" Spi belt might be perfect for the PDM and other stuff. My son uses a regular size one for the lancer, strips, swabs and glucose supply. It goes on around the waist and fits snuggly. I would like to get the bigger one to fit the PDM since my son currently puts it in his pocket while everything else is in the Spibelt. Good luck!
Here's what I use. Made for golfing, but I can fit the PDM, another pod if needed for changing, test strips, finger sticker, extra batteries, travel Kleenex pouch, alcohol pads, and a roll of Glucotabs. 100% of everything I'd need in any case.
My perfect cased needed room for an extra pod plus glucotabs, and all the other solutions either wouldn't fit or was way too big. This one was the right size and fit everything.
With the FreeStyle Promise, it works with your insurance. Your drug store just files your normal insurance, then files the Promise program as secondary insurance. I pay $15/month for my strips. Otherwise I'd pay $100/month with my main insurance only.
