Where do you find these clips?? You are so resourceful! Hope youāre feeling better and better every day!
My heart goes out to youā¦I have spent all of September dealing with thisā¦and still am, as I type this.
Itās been one HELL of a monthā¦started with having a liquid nitro treatment on my ankle for type of moleā¦it got infectedā¦the 1st course of antibiotics did nothing, got an IV and then began 7 days of a stronger antibiotic (clindamycin), which ended 2 days laterā¦a full body rashā¦and blisters. Took Benadryl, but was not helping.
Went to see the doc, stronger antihistamines, a creme for the itchiness, and a more powerful med to be taken at night if the itching is too intense.
Sept 25thā¦a new development. Was in ER again, as the large perimeter around the wound on my ankle was red. (Iāll pass on comments about the arrogant doctor). I have a port connected to my left arm, for delivery of IV antibiotics (Rocephin), to be done for 5 days, and wound care, for the cellulitis. These done at the Community Care Access Centre, in Kitchener.
The rash re the allergic reaction to Clindamycin is still itchy, but gradually getting better.
The wound, however, is not healing to the doctorās likingā¦so 5 more days of Rocephin, and more wound care. I will be referred to a wound care specialist, and will be seeing my allergist for this new allergy. I hope and pray that your issues with this wound will soon be resolved. I know how unsettling this all is!
Baskets of hugsā¦linda
I hope both you and cynthia begin to feel much better soon! My thoughts are with you.
Oh! Linda and Cynthia, I do so hope you both feel better soon and that the wounds heal.
omgā¦what a nightā¦went to pick up my IV stuffā¦then went to the care clinic, and learned that the doc had labelled each IV pouch with the wrong dosage. Kyle from the care clinic was an hour on the phone trying to right the wrongā¦it all worked out in the endā¦but I was there for nearly 2 hours!
Iām glad that you got this straightened out. You and Cynthia both deserve the best of care. Hopefully these bumps in the road will not adversely hinder you on your road to recovery.
Hugs to the both of you.
Oh dear, Linda! What an ordeal.
You and Cynthia are in our prayers here at our household.
I never knew what Cellulitis was until Cynthia started this thread. Iām so grateful Iāve never suffered this.
I grew up in a āmedical familyā, and have trained for Advanced First Aid from the Red Cross (next step would be EMT training, but that was never my path). As a result, I have very thorough wound-care practices.
Itās always been a curiosity how little most people know about proper wound care, as the principles are pretty simple: Keep it clean and sterile, use an antibiotic ointment, change dressings at least once a day.
Iām a big fan of the tegaderm-based coveringsā¦ Nexcare sealing bandages, used to be called Cleanseal. If carefully applied with some antibiotic sealed well, wounds will heal very nicely. Large sheets of Tegaderm can be had and used over gauze pads for larger areas.
The key is keeping it sterile, which Tegaderm works wonders accomplishing.
Looks like phlebitis in my upper left arm, as a result from the first IV portā¦seeing my doc tomorrow. Along with the antibiotic IV, the wound itself is being treated with medi-honeyā¦itās started to come around. Another prob is that I react quickly to the adhesive in bandages/IV tape etc.
May I say that I am obsessively thinking of the day when I will have all this behind me!?
So glad to hear you are home. Take care. Nancy
Thank you! Itās nice to be home! ļø
