Before dinner last night I was at 194. Before bed I was at 120 and this morning I am at 124. Not to bad considering how I ate over the last 24 hours.
Testing 12 x, ave 119
Had some Highs, but enough In Lower range (80-110's) to even things out ok..
Important thing? No Hypo's to ruin the day..
Got up 3 hrs after bed, Tested to be sure would have a nice AM reading
I Hate starting my Day off being High..and only takes me less than 30 sec to Test , if need a CB, Ck my chart guide, shoot up and go back to sleep. It's become routine now and dropped A1c's by over 0.5% as a result..
well.. that 81 dropped to a 51... which i overcorrected to 176 before bed. Oh well lol
Do you REALLY want to know???? Shall I only tell you about Dec. 25 because Dec. 26 was worse???? OK, I had a 118 at 9:30 AM, and only had a cup of tea because I knew I was going out to eat with friends. We ate at 4:30, and by 7:30, I was 219, and by 10:30 I was 321. That was in spite of taking 13u of insulin for the dinner. Did I mention the ginormous piece of chocolate cake that I couldn't even eat 1/3 of? But wait; it gets worse. Because of the starving children in Somalia, I took the 2/3 of the cake home and ate it for breakfast this morning, and peaked at a glorious 395, and it took 7 hours and 17.4u of insulin to get below 300, and then I plunged, currently at 68, and eating a little something to prevent it from going down further.
A couple of random thoughts: I'm not diabetic, I'm FOOD-intolerant! And second, someone once asked me if I was a "stable" diabetic. What's that????? :-P
Natalie I had the same problem as you. I went over 300 on the 26th and I thought something was wrong with my pump and of course I over corrected and ended up going low right before bed so I ended up eating more cake and jelly beans and woke up at 113 this morning which I am happy with.
I think a stable diabetic is one that doesn't fall down. LOL I don't really fit into this catagory.
Hope everyone had a great holiday.
OH...I have done that TOO; just start eating and totally forget I'm a T1 diabetic and need to take insulin.
Must be a Dec. 26th thing ... On the 25th I corrected a 15.1 (272 mg/dl) after dinner, and then corrected a 14.3 (257 mg/dl) before bed ... And maybe that should have been a warning, but I just figured it was the food and complete lack of activity and not giving enough time between corrections for the insulin to work ...
So I woke up at 5:30 on the 26th feeling awful and found my blood sugar at 23.1 (416 mg/dl)! So I did the whole site change/cartridge change thing just in case, and corrected and went back to bed. Luckily I slept, because when I woke up I was 4.7 (85 mg/dl) and I can't imagine dropping 18.4 (331 mg/dl) points in a three-hour period is a pleasant experience.
Luckily the rest of the day, which included lunch with friends and Boxing Day shopping, was okay (for me!).
My bs have been as stable as yours Natalie!!!
I am speaking from experience with many a "booze" filled night. It DOES lower your BG every morning. Be careful!!
