Cleo infusion sets?

does anyone use cleo’s?

my pharmacy gave me 2 sets to try out and I really like the way they hook up, but I’m having difficulties.

The first one I put in and when I bolused I got an occlusion alarm. I thought it was maybe because i pulled to hard on the part that attaches (I didn’t realize its supposed to not come off lol) so I changed it out and still was getting occlusion alarms.

After wasting half a cartridge of insulin and dealing with really high bg, I packed it in and put in an inset.

So what am I doing wrong?

I would tell you to give animas a call and they will explain everything to you and walk you through it…smiles

I understand your frustration…

really, even if its not their product?

Im sorry but I don’t use those that is why Im suggesting that you call Animas …

What company did you get your pump from?

I tried the Cleo 90s a couple of months ago and I really like them. They have a slightly different profile than the Inset IIs and they don’t leave as many marks or hurt under tight jeans.

I found them pretty easy to insert and I had no problems with them once I figured out how they work.

I can’t think what’s gone wrong for you. Maybe it was just the wrong spot. I’ve never had any occlusions with them, and in fact they do better on my belly than the Inset II’s, which I use for above my navel.

If you have the chance give them another try.

You punch them down into your skin and then just take the entire plastic thing off… Then you put the tubing part over and snap it into place. They rotate around so you can change the way the tubing goes up or down or to the side. I used them for a long time with my Cozmo pump but they didn’t stick right and you basically have to insert them on your own and push down REALLY hard till the trigger pulls back. Not sure that made sense. I didn’t realize they still made them after they stopped making the Cozmo.

Here is a video on insertion.

I’ve been using Cleos for the entire 5 years I’ve been pumping. When I switched to the Animas pump, I was delighted to learn I could continue using them.
You probably just got it in a bad spot, maybe? Smith’s Medical makes them, and you can call them and I’m sure they will walk you through it. Read the directions one more time and make sure you completed all the steps? Not sure what the insets are like, so can’t compare. I watched a video when I got my animas pump and they looked complicated, so I just kept using my Cleos…lol…I hope you get it worked out…

thanks, I found the video last night as well, AFTER I messed up both sets lol. I think maybe my problem was that I didn’t get the audible click when attaching the tubing to the site( ('m guessing becasue I was full of insulin!!!)

I’ll see if I can get another set or 2 to try out and go from there

thanks

Donna, I don’t always hear the click and that doesn’t mean the set isn’t ok. I make it click afterwards. The sets have always been ok.

I ordered a box on inset infusion sets and tried one today. I like it! I love not having to hold the thing down and push hard to put the set in! Liked it!
