Has anyone on here ever dated another type 1 diabetic?? And if so, how did it go???
I believe a member here, Dave and his Wife are both insulin dependent, maybe he will answer 
I did in high school. It didn’t last (since it was high school after all). He was the first diabetic I ever met besides myself. I did learn some valuable things from this relationship as he and I are still good friends now, 20 years later (oh my gosh, has it really been 20 years?!?). There is a temptation to be the diabetes police towards one another, and that can cause conflict. If one member of the couple takes good care of their diabetes and the other does not, this can also cause problems (I was the one in denial, he was already on a pump and took good care of himself). He got on my case alot because he would be doing the right D thing and I would do the opposite.
Here is the good part, that person totally understands when you are having a low. You never have to explain it, they just hand you juice or glucose tabs and you feel safe with them. They get the emotional part of this disease so you always have someone to talk to. For me he was the only boyfriend I had in high school that I felt I could be myself around, like he got me and I got him. I haven’t dated another t1 since then but he did and they were together all through college.
