The last few weeks it has been in the back of my mind. My 2 year old is wanting to drink constantly. I have checked her blood sugar twice today once it was 158 and just now it was 132 both times it has been about 4 hours after eating. I do know that if she does test positive that I have caught it early and I do know it isn’t the end of the world but she already lives with asthma, diabetes would just make it that much harder. I am going to call her doctor tomorrow and request some bloodwork.
Thanks
only good thing is that Children’s Mercy is an hour and half away. It is one of the nation’s top childrens hospital and since I am diabetic I have a leg up and know what to do.
Cody I know u know what to do. My daughter when she was 11 (No where near 2) found out she was a Type 1. She now has 3 childern and after a scare last week she’s got her bs’s under controll now. GOOD LUCK!!!
Cody, she’s so lucky to have you! Please keep us posted.
If her doctor can’t get her in tomorrow which is normally never a problem then I will take her to the Urgent Care clinic.
Cody,
Back in 2008 my son showed lows and highs that made my wife and I grow concerned over whether he may have diabetes:

In the end it turned out to be all normal, but until we got the results back, we didn’t feel comfortable.
In any case, I would recommend enrolling your daughter in TrialNet:

Wishing you all the best… either way, we will be here for you!
I surely hope/pray that your Daughter doesn’t have it Cody, just like Santi.
So very hard to think of your daughter having diabetes. I’m sorry & hoping hard this isn’t the case.
Please let us know the results.
Just called her drs office and they had the nerve to try to put me off for a week. I insisted she be seen today. They told me I wouldn’t have the results of any labwork until at least Mon.
Sorry for my english, but don’t you have urin glucose testing strips ? It could help you find out if what you think is true, in the meanwhile.
Measure her BG sooner after a meal, and see if she is over 200.
HBAC1 should give you the answer: it takes 1 day not weeks .
Depending on the lab. Sometimes the lab you got the draw from has to send it out to a different one because they do not have the capability. Very unlikely in this day and age but it is possible.
Wishing you the best.
They told me I would have the results Monday if they did the lab today. What they wanted to do was have me wait to bring her in for an appointment until the end of next week. I told the nurse there was no way I was going to wait until next week because if she is diabetic I want insulin started as soon as possible
My daughter was diagnosed Jan 4, 2010.
Like you I had suspicions regarding some symptoms she was having ie. exessive thirst & bed wetting, and then some flu like symptoms after eating. I had an appointment to take her to the pediatrician the next day but my instincts kicked in and I ended up taking her the ER. I told them the symptoms and asked them to check her and she was diagnosed immediately.
Sometimes you just need to follow you instincts and not wait.
Have you had a chance to get your daughter in to see the doctor? How did it go? It’s tough worrying about your child like this. Not knowing is almost worse than knowing.
Please let us know how it goes. And good luck!

I did a home a1c and it was 5.1. I am getting her into a new doctor tomorrow for labwork to be done.
Hoping the best for you and your little one
