Dex failure:(

I am sad to report that last night Louise died! I knew it was bad news when she beeped in a longer way than she usually does. I had just tested my blood sugar less than five minutes earlier, and I was at 88, so I didn’t think that was why she was beeping. The screen read “error code HWRFT,” whatever that means. I quickly called Dexcom and got the bad news, she was dead, and has to be replaced. I had just put on a new sensor two days before, and I had been getting good readings up to that point, so it was completely out of the blue.

Has anyone else had to have their receiver replaced? I had been wearing her less than a year. I’m hoping that was just a fluke, that the next one will last longer.

I had one replaced a few months ago. It worked fine except it stopped beeping for the alarms - it vibrated but no beeps. Dexcom had me push the reset button on the back but after going thru that a few times it still didn’t beep so they sent a replacement. Funny thing the original had a very bright display - the replacement is considerably dimmer. When I asked about it they sent another replacement but it too had the same dim display.

My receiver was replaced a few months ago when it could no longer “read” the transmitter. The Y symbol told me something was wrong. Dexcom first replaced the transmitter, which did not cure the problem, and ultimately replaced the receiver. There was no charge for either replacement, and the customer serice reps were (as they always are) efficient and courteous. I was particularly impressed with the fact that they were authorized to replace fairly expensive components without a lot of red tape.
