Dexcom G5 "No Data"?

My daughter shares her G5 to my iPhone. I keep getting no data when she has data on her phone. We get long periods during the night with no data and she has data on her phone. Any ideas? The alarms are waking us all night with no data more than 1/2 hour.

I didn’t even know there was an alarm for no data.

Are you able to correct it by checking the status on her phone? We occasionally have this problem. But it’s only occasional, and Caleb is able to correct it through settings within his app.

Yes, I have the same problem with my son’s G5. It usually is a quick fix of just tapping around in the app on his iPhone so the data shows up again.

This actually suggests that something is interfering with the network connection on your phone. Where do you put your phone during these times. And when you see that you are getting no data, does your phone give a signal loss alert? And when that occurs, does your phone show a loss of cell (wifi) signal? If so, that is your problem. Your phone needs a minimal cell signal (or wifi signal) through the night or you can experience loss of signal.

ps. You can turn off the signal loss alert if that is helpful.

I am an adult (senior) on a Dexcom G5. I have signal loss all day long on and off. Sometimes to the iPhone. Sometimes to the Apple Watch only and sometimes no data on the receiver. Most of the day all three devices are within 8 inches of each other. It is most baffling. I am planning to talk to Dexcom shortly. Night time the receiver sits next me on bed stand and phone and watch charging in bathroom. I sleep on my side so I always adhere to front of stomach. I am blunt to lows so the Dexcom is critical to stay out of trouble. I generally don’t lose signal while sleeping but day time, it is a regular thing. Anyone else with daytime issues or only nighttime.

One thing to remember about the Dexcom is that it communicates to the receiver using a bluetooth connection. And that connection really needs a direct path to the receiver that does not block the signal. If you put your receiver behind something that has significant metal content you can block the signal. If I carry my dexcom receiver and my cell phone in the same pocket, I can lose signal. Put the receiver behind an alarm clock and it could be blocked. And a blocked signal may cause the receiver to totally lose signal or it just may become erratic.

Thanks. I wear the receiver on my belt left side which has a metal buckle. The transmitter is on my stomach left or right alternating weekly. I have more issues with the data loss wearing on the right side. I just find this difficult to believe that the belt buckle would block transmission and in either case, I should not loose G5 Bluetooth connectivity to the Apple Watch. About to call Dexcom on the issue.
