Distractions?

Ok so at the moment im trying to bring my blood sugar down from being around 450. I feel really really crappy, and i was wondering what other people did to distract themselves while they wait for their blood sugars get down to a tolerable level. I’m about to bite all of my fingernails off i feel so terrible right now.

So sorry! I drink a lot of water, take a walk, or run up & down the stairs. When my BG is high, I feel like I’m going to jump out of my skin & have to get moving to feel somewhat better.

When I’m high, I get tired, crabby and disoriented. To prevent misunderstands with others, I go off and sleep!! May not be the best but I’m so sick of drinking water that I think I shall float away with one more drop!

thanks for the advice! im feeling better now. i flipped on the television and started watching the office. always makes me feel better to laugh :]

I sometimes lay down and sleep through the high (if I can), otherwise I go for a walk, take a hot shower, or anything to make me laugh

Glad that you found something to make you laugh!

I try to carry on as normal, not nice though. Drink water, don’t gulp it, try to lie down if possible. Oh yes, try not to scream at anyone.

I swear a lot under my breath, test my BG every 15 minutes, pace around, and try not to snap at anyone.

I also rub the skin under my infusion set to get the insulin moving faster. It probably does no good.

I will also occasionally eat a pickle.
