Thanks for the invitation Pinky. I had a auto immune attack that seems to not want to quit - -Type 1, Hashimotos (with severe bouts of acute thyroiditis), frozen shoulder twice now (equal opportunity on the shoulders), and still tryinng to find the reason for a sed rate that is through the roof – always over 100 (been through, biopsies, catscans, pet scans – no answers). All that said – I actually consider myself pretty darn healthy. I have a supuerb endo who is really a special person and thanks to her, I have decent control over everything.
Hi All,
I am a Type 1 diabetic also with multiple issues. Aside from Type 1 diabetes, I have gastroparesis (severe), dysphagia (trouble swallowing), Hashimoto’s and severe acid reflux due to the gastroparesis (and I am only 42 and my son at age 8 last year was also diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes
but is a real trooper and IS INCREDIBLE inspiration!!! I wish everyone in this group and thank others for being so inpirational!!! Eventhough I am on 90% all liquid/puree diet I am thankful that I am not on a feeding tube and try to live life to the fullest
Donna H,
You may be interested in this planned clinical trial, initially for type 1 but with plans to repeat it later for other autoimmune conditions:
Evening everyone, and thanks for the invitation pinky
Welcome Jodil! I’m in Ottawa, so not far from you. Sorry that your Son was dxd. I see that he gets his inspirational trait from his Mom
I’m Glad that you are not on the feeding tube either and that you are still enjoying your Life. I’m sure that your Sweet Boy brings a lot of Joy and adventure into your Life.
Will he be going out for Hallowe’en? I wasn’t allowed to go when I was a Kid. Times thankfully have changed.

If there’s one related to diabetes, I haven’t found it yet.
I’m a type 2 diabetic. (So was my dad, my grandmother, siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, seems so weird!) I also have Lupus, DDD, hypertension, and have not been officially diagnosed, but Dr said he suspected: fibromyalgia, and wheat and casein allergies. Sometimes I think that friends and relatives think I’m a hypochondriac… I wasn’t diagnosed until 2007, but I’ve always suffered these symptoms, but no one checked me for diabetes as a child. I don’t know if that means anything, i mean was I borderline back then? or were there other issues, or what? I am (almost) 48, but I feel much older. Eating GFCF, low sodium, low carb and sugar free is not easy for me. I was trying the GAP diet. I haven’t been very successful.
Liz, what is DDD?
The gradual deterioration of the disc between the vertebrae, degenerative disk disease (or was that disorder???) Sometimes it’s also called spondylosis. I think it is quite common. For me, it’s very painful.
Yep, I have the spondylosis too. Terribly painful Liz. You have my heartfelt empathy!
Degenerative Disc Disease. A catch-all name for what they can’t name yet. Like ‘metabolic disease’.
We ought to make business cards with all our acronyms listed like degrees. Make people think we are edjamakatid when, in fact, we are just fubar.
(i am more than a tad sarcastic today)
Well placed sarcasm is a gift!
Some who know me better say it is a curse.
