I am an IT professional and have just been approved through my insurance for an insulin pump. I will be getting it put on the 19th, and have been wearing it trying to get used to it being there, and good spots to wear it. Now on my casual wear I just wear it hanging from my pockets, however with slacks the fabric being flimsy and thinner it doesn’t seem secure. The other one I have tried was on my belt, however the spot the hose would be coming out of when I set down jabs straight into my stomach (mind you I am not greatly overweight it is a matter of height and bending). I was just looking for some input on good spots to wear it at work. I am also contemplating wearing my shirts un-tucked now to accommodate the tube unless there are other ideas on that one as well. Thank you so much.
I don’t know if this helps (I’m a woman, so my dressing options with a pump are a little different), but one place I wear mine a lot is in the small of my back clipped onto my waistband, but facing inwards. It keeps it out of the way and inconspicuous, yet still easy to access. It is a little tricky with the tubing sometimes, but I get the longer tubing and that works quite well.
This was discussed in the following forum, have a look, it will likely answer your questions.
Pump logistics for tucked in shirts
Thank you, those are some good suggestions on that page. I just wasn’t hitting the right keywords for that one lol. Hmm my pockets tend to always be full, and I will have to keep it from my phone according to some of the instructions especially when I have it in RF mode (Animas Ping).
Intresting side thought now that I am thinking about it. I was having the debate on how to shower with it too? Anyone else have the Animas Ping with some ideas?
I sometimes wear my pump upside down so the tubing is not sticking into me. A spibelt is a great place to put your pump and is very neat.
I agree, a spibelt is great for when you really have nowhere else to put it. Also I have seen people clip it onto the back of their pants, although that doesn’t really work for me.
