Boy I had quite a night.I went to bed in my haey checked my BSnd woke up in the hospital. Come to find out i had a seizure at 1am!!! Then passed out.I dont remember any of it.My husband called 911 and gave them my meds. The paramedics checked my BS and it was 26 so off i went.I woke up the drs pumping my stomach with charcoal and them giving we glucose through a IV in my neck three hours later.APPARENTLY they were trying to figure out why my BS kept dropping but the dummys didnt think to check and see how much insulin I was recieving.Iam on U500 humulin r with a basal eqivelent to 10.5! So come to find out theres a major interaction between my insulin and a drug I started taking 3 days ago.So they were trying to get 2 pills I took 4 HOURS PRIOR out my stomach by pumping my stomach with charcoal.Boy oh boy I wanted to strangle them!!
When going to the ER if you can speak for yourself it’s helpful but when you can’t you’re at their mercy because they’re not aware of what’s happening…I’ve been there. Other then your husband knowing you have Diabetes it can be helpful to let him know about some of your meds. When I get new meds I always lookup at whatever websites to see what precautions to take and what side effects they have.
yeah I usually do bt i thought they would have known better!
Sorry to hear about this experience! Glad that you are doing better now! Hope that you can get the meds figured out soon.
