Well I've paid that premium for over 40 years. They act those strips are gold. I just buy my extra off of Amazon. I don't pay any co pays at all for diabetic supplies and meds used for diabetes or high blood pressure except if it's non generic. I really can't complain, I never thought I could have a pump to begin with, but in a year I'm still uncontrolled with the dawn phenonomen being the worst problem right now.
I agree I did feel discriminated against, although i know that isn't rational.
Sadly, insurance companies have no memory of good behavior on your part, so 40 years might as well be 40 seconds.
Have posted about diabetes on FB .... just lays there, sad and alone...lol. Have tried a variety of things, and decided to just stop....
It's funny because when people have a cancer dx, many people respond with care and comfort.
I received a phone call today from some person from edgepark. The order will be for a medtronic 530G. My portion is 946.00 and the supplies won't cost a thing for the next year anyway. So it looks like I'll get it. It's been submitted to the doctor for a prescription. So we shall see.
That's great news Roxanne! You're very fortunate to have your supplies covered for a whole year. Hope it all goes through for you. Keep us posted.
I know what you mean Lorraine. I have a sister-in-law that raised over $20,000 for a cure for breast cancer. She's shooting for $30,000 this year and will most likely reach her goal. Although, I'm very happy for her accomplishment and her health, it's sad that we don't get as much response when it comes to Diabetes Awareness.
