*Finally! I Hit My 50 Year D Anniversary Recently*!

OMG. 107! LOL. I've done the thermometer thing. Bet lots of kids did. I put mine on a light bulb. Think it was about 104. Last time I did that because my mother put me in the bathtub filled with cold water & ice. Amazing how it brought me down to a normal temp:)

Awe... poor you with the cold water. I don't recall doing that. Goodness....wait you had lightbulbs Gerri?? j/k We did too. :D I should have guessed that other Kids did it also. Kids do the weirdest things. :)

HEY DANNY!! Thank you SOOO much. I can hear you singing in the shower. :D Good to see you. I miss you, you know. Hoping that you are doing Great.

Man, it was a fierce awakening not to pull that stunt again. Did you ever throw a bunch of stuff in the toilet (yea, we had indoor plumbing also!) & pretend you threw up? That was a favorite of mine if I didn't want to go to school.

Jeepers, fierce awakening indeed...BRRR! Ahahaha! I never thought of that one. I didn't have many in order to get out of school. I would grab a tissue occasionally when we had liver( :P ) and onions for supper. I'd start coughing and run to the bathroom spit all the liver in the tissue and throw it in the garbage can. They never caught on. I have a feeling my Daughter played the same game when she coughed and ran to the can during a meal. :D

(Sorry, there was no where to reply under your last message).

Ugh, liver! I'd still do that rather than eat liver--lol.

Hi Terrie. Not sure we've "met", but congratulations! I got Juv. RA at the age of 12, which is now in remission; collected some other autoimmune conditions along the way, like Type1 D; so I surely do empathize. Have another glass or two of celebration glasses of red wine over the Holidays...

Congratulations Terrie you are truly inspiring, as are many veterans here. We newbies learn to so much from you, and from the goodness of you're hearts you keep giving, giving and giving. Don't know if you remember but I was trying to get my type 1 grandmother memoirs from my mom. But we think my mom is starting to suffer from Alzheimer's and can't find the book. I'll like to look myself but 1) Wouldn't know where to start 2) It might make her feel bad and 3) I never have that kind of time to spend at my folks. Anyway one day I'll have it, I think it will be amazing to read and share about her experiences being diagnosed in 1924. From what I heard D management didn't start changing for several decades later so all you veterans deserve a medal and a great big hug from me! :)

Congratulations Sweet Lady....xo Love to you. xo

CONGRADS TERRIE!!!!!!! One of my hero's!!!! I heard the samething from the drs about my lifespan when they diagnosed me. Oh well I'm still here & so are u! We showed them huh????

HaHa! You and me both Gerri. Blah liver! Children shouldn't have to consume liver unless they want to. I see an organized protest coming up. :D

Contrads!!

Hi Trudy! Not officially introduced no, although I have read many of your enlightening posts. I Really feel for you getting RA so young. My Cousin was dxd. with it at age 10 but I had no idea what it was or the severe pain he was experiencing. I remember his Mom waxing his hands when he was young. I thought that was weird. I've had severe RA since I was 24 while trying to raise my Familly. Awful stuff. So I can somewhat imagine what you went through while growing up with JRA. Not fair that's for sure. Wonderful to hear that you are in remission.

Okay! I know that I'll be offered some wine somewhere during the Christmas season. :) Nice to "meet you" Trudy. :) Thank you!

CUAL--Children United Against Liver---lol!

Emily Hi! Thank you! :) Yes yes, I remember you mentioning your Grandmother's memoirs. Sorry about your Mom's possible condtion AND that she doesn't remember where the book is. I would Love to read it also. Ii would be so awesome to read. The book would probably be whereever your Mom stored any of your Grandmothers' stuff or her own paperwork or if it was Special to her possibly in her room closet or in a box/suitcase under the bed. My Mom seems reasonably clear-headed for her age for the most part but I know she hates clutter and unfortunately tossed most old papers (AND our glass syringes :( ) long ago. Now you are making me think that I should just write a short-point book about my years with D to keep at home here, in case someone would need or want to read it in the future, years from now. Hmmmm! I appreciate and accept your hug. One back to you and your Son. It lloks like an interesting future for all of us. ;-)

Thank you Dear Robyn. :)

I'm Happy to hear that you are healing as you should be. xo Big Hug!

HaHa Doris! :D YES, We surely did fool them all. We're too stubborn and laid-back and positive to kick off yet. I think we confuse this Diabetes. You'll be celebrating your 50th in no time also Sweetheart. Can't wait!! :)

Thank you Betty. I appreciate it. :)

Ahahaha! You are so clever.. :D

Terrie, I called JohnBen yesterday to let him know about your Five-O with d ...his congestive heart problem is very much getting in the way of coming to TuD more often . he wishes you well :)...I hope he manages to write a few words here ?? I did notice, that he congratulated T1Forever with reaching the 50 . He appreciated the ( short ) call ...do you want his phone number in a pm to you ???
