After a long wait, I finally had my fist endo appointment yesterday and it went so well! Here are a few highlights:
- She was able to confirm a type 1 diagnosis.
- Had an a1c on March 8th and it was 8.1 It was still elevated because it was still reflecting an entire month of time when my BG was out of control elevated. SO..... yesterday's a1c was....... get ready for it..... 5.5!!!!!!!!! They literally were double checking paperwork sent from my other doctor to make sure I was the same patient standing in from of them. This is the lowest it's ever been! :)Based on how well I've been doing, she is not going to change any setting on my pump because she doesn't see a need for that. I was told to keep doing what I'm doing.
- They increased my meds for my hypothyroid which I was happy about. My levels were within "normal" range but there was still some wiggle room and I'm experiencing some symptoms. I'll get my levels checked in 3 weeks to make sure everything is good with that change.
- When I go back in 3 weeks they will place a CGM that will be read in there office for some info about what I'm experiencing overnight and during exercise (I don't have data from overnight hours).
- Also got a referral to see an Ophthalmologist so I can get a relationship established with them. He specializes in diseases and surgeries of the retina so I think he's a great choice.
That's all for now. Thanks for the replies and support that got me to this point! :)
Yea!!! So glad your appt. went well and you were able to get the Type 1 diagnosis confirmed! And congrats on your A1C! That is great! Hopefully, you'll be feeling better with your adjusted thyroid meds, too. That's awesome that they will be doing CGM. I'm sure that will provide valuable information.
Sounds like it's been a long road for you, but now you are on the right path! Best of luck to you!! :)
Thanks so much for following up with me kittywitty! It's been great knowing there are people here that really care for the well being of others. I'm excited about my progress and will keep up the good work!
Sounds great! Congratulations! I've been keeping up with your interesting questions. I haven't been able to help and answer any but they have been interesting for me too. I sure hope I get half as good results as you did!
I've been watching your progress (silently, in the background). Terrific job -- you're doing great. You've really taken control and it shows. And it does sound as if you have an excellent medical team behind you. Congratulations on that A1c and keep on doing what you're doing!
Wow, jriccardi, all this is such awesome news! It is both great that you have found an endo who will truly listen to you and work with you AND that you have been such a great advocate for yourself. I am really, really happy for you.
I'm glad that you were able to confirm your diagnosis, but I'm sorry you have T1. That is a great A1c. You should be really proud. Your new endo sounds like a keeper.
