Hey all type 2’s. I was over joyed to find this show on TV for Low Carb cooking!!! There are some WONDERFUL RECIPES. It is called, “Blaine’s Low Carb Kitchen” on Fit.TV. I get it on Direct TV but I am sure it is on Cable or Dish TV. Here is the link.
They use to have lots of low carb shows on food network, but they’ve cut them out. I find low carb cookbooks are a lot better than diabetic cookbooks. I find them on the bargain table at Borders. I have one from a few years ago that has desserts like brownies, cheesecake and cookies and pies under 5 carbs. Instead of flour they use ground almonds, whey powder. Before diabetes I was always baking and that is the biggest thing I miss. Every once in a while I need something chewy and crunchy.
Yes, a few years ago low-carb was the latest thing in weight-loss diets, and stores had whole aisles of things to buy, and there were books, and shows, etc. Now that is “out of style” and all they have is gluten-free, which is great for those who need it, but for low-carb goodies we now have to go further than our local grocery store.
I’ve watched his show numerous times, he has done well with his weight loss. His diet seems fairly normal, except that many of his ingredients aren’t available in rural America. But it’s a good show.
I have been low carb and high fat and my Blood Sugar has dropped from 267 to 90 in less than 2 weeks from the day of diagnosis. My A1C went from 10.9 to 6.8. I have also lost 15 lbs and I continue to lose. I was 5’9" and 180lbs at diagnosis, I am down to 165, though I am not trying to necessarily trying to lose weight. Again, I eat high protein and green veggie and high fat…lots of cheese and cream. I have no problem. Even my triglycerides are normal and HDL/LDL is great and I have been low carb like this since May 9,2009.
