hi y'all! My boyfriend bought me a present, a box of test strips (insurance doesn't cover as many as I use). Ain't he a peach? Anyway, he came home with freestyle insulinx strips. I've been told not to use the "Lite" strips in the meter, and I have no idea about this insulinx business. A search through the archives reveals nothing. Little help?
Freestyle lite strips and insulinx strips are the same thing. I have both types of meters, freestyle lite and insulinx, I use the same strip for both. Though Abbott wants you to buy different strips for the different meters, I did a side by side comparison and there was no difference. I received my Insulinx meter from the UK, my cousin sent it to me, in the box was the free meter, and 50 freestyle strips. So apparently Abbott UK didn't get the memo about 2 types of strips.
I received a promotional insulinx meter and found the same thing between the regular Freestyle butterfly strips used in my omnipod and these insulinx strips. All readings were within 3 or 4 points of each other. I have never tried swapping the regulars with the lites. Are they the same too?
we ended up taking the insulinx back. I have a freestyle lite meter I bought on eBay for 10 bucks and I buy the lite strips out of pocket sometimes because they’re cheaper online. haven’t tried switching strips and meter yet tho
