G7 and Omnipod

Anyone know any updates about the G7 - omnipod connection? I lost track of the latest news

Don’t really know anything, but, when I had my Omnipod training, my trainer thought it was imminent — like late spring early summer. She thought iPhone compatibility was further off — end of the year.

Have heard nothing so far. I live in Canada and Health Canada takes forever to approve new devices. So once the Omnipod 5 is released up here I will go for it then, know may T1Ds do enjoy using it.

IIRC the Dexcom CEO said late last year or early this year Insulet was on track to start the trial of the G7 compatibility software update this summer and the official release late this year. Complicating the schedule is the FDA recall of the Omnipod Android app that happened January this year that appears to have delayed the release of the IOS app and then we can speculate may delay G7 compatibility.

im using aaps, but insulet told me the omnipod 5 and g7 are released in limited areas, however, the pdm and pods are different

Oh, yeah, I’d forgotten but my trainer mentioned they had G7 Omnipod integration on Long Island.

I have read that DexCom G6 will be discontinued 12/31/24. Good riddance. No confirmation from DexCom or OmniPod. But this would indicate that Omnipod would, at long last, have to sync with G7.

I really doubt it. The G6 is still too “new” on the market and too many people still use it for them to discontinue it this soon. Dexcom generally holds on to previous models (like the G4 and G5 that people used for ages after the G6 came out) after they release a new model, so I doubt that they will discontinue the G6 any time soon.

Hi, Sherry Ann,
Thanks for this post. I’m sure this will be welcome news to those who like G6.
I was reflecting recently on the days before we had DexCom at all and I think it’s been the single biggest improvement in my 56 years with T1D.
Best wishes,
Sue
