Give a thought for those less fortunate on bitterly cold days like this

As we prepare no we never prepare let us say anticipate the white stuff falling (snow) the country goes into overdrive we know what to expect chaos on the roads buses trains planes we we eagerly wait for it anyway,at times like this spare a thought to those unable to get out of the house because of illness disability or being infirm, as you know we diabetics need to keep warm but with the high cost of energy it can be a major problem, wrap up warm is the advice but some people cannot even get a hot meal never mind keep warm the number of people who die from hypothermia is a blot on our society.

Here I am sitting at my laptop turned the central heating off and use a calor heater our daughter gave us I like to use as little energy in the day and keep it for when the wife returns from work, there is only so much sleeping you can do in the daytime and after a while you still feel cold, more jumpers or in my case cardigans do help but it is the legs and feet that really feel cold even sitting in front of a heater stupid I know but there it is.

There a many many worse of people than me and please do not think I am moaning but there is a lot of talk about looking after the elderly disabled or infirm that you could be lead in to a false perspective that we are a caring society from what i saw when I worked for the local Council for 15 years on projects to help the groups of people I have described sometimes shamed me into helping out when I could.

Elderly people who lived through the BLITZ those who served in two World wars mums and dads with children in a rich country like this and we are we throw tons of food away a year not me personally but supermarkets and children go hungry not in Africa but here in the UK,OK some of us with diabetes and heart failure have a tough time but with the season of GOODWILL upon can someone in Government really look and help those unfortunate ones amongst us.

No snide remarks about the heating allowance which does not go even half way to helping those in who qualify when you reach retirement age heating should be affordable if not free if we can spend billions on nuclear submarines to kill millions of people like us surely we can spend the money on eradicating poverty hunger and disease.

Pipe dreams well apartheid was slavery was the votes for women was, not that slavery does not exsist even today,my feet legs and toes need a walk around the house to get the circulation going.

Note on the BLOG

I may not have expressed myself properly and do not wish to make any political statement just a statement on the society we live in and are leaving for our kids

You’re right as usual Ray. I remembered to send back the envelope with payment to feed some people this Christmas but I never once thought of the people who will die from over-exposure. And what may we do for them? The world Govs. could do much Better for their Citizens everywhere. I look forward to the Brilliant sparkling snow also but not the cold. I sometimes throw a couple of bean bags in the microwave to warm. They keep my hands and feet warm that the normal house heat, doesn’t seem to reach sometimes.

As usual, I enjoy your interesting thoughts and blogs. God Bless Us All!

Well stated!
