When I’m stuck in feeling sorry for myself (like right now, trying to adjust to using insulin and changing my diet) I find it helps to think about the things I’m grateful for in life. Here are mine.
I am retired and so have time to learn to manage my diabetes.
I have enough money (barely) to pay for my diabetes needs.
I have some good friends who understand and support me.
hmmm i have a wonderful boyfriend, who has yet to see me under tight control so that’s something for me to work on
i have wonderful tudiabetes peeps that help keep me on my feet and make me feel like i don’t have to fight this alone
and
i my own kitchen to create my meals in, though my fridge is small i try to fit as much healthy stuff in it!
oo and i really am grateful for finding a candle to make my tiny apartment smell good
aww that’s so sweet. children are great. they always seem to know when you need picked up!! i have no children of my own but i am a girl scout leader of 32 first, second and third graders. no matter what mood i’m in they always make me smile.
I don’t have children, so I’m the cliched middle aged woman with a cat I love half to death. (hey, at least I don’t have 12 cats!). She seems to know when I need a cuddle or cat kisses… As long as she doesn’t decide to head butt my hand when I’m doing my injection!
Yes Zoe, I must admit, I have 4 cats, used to have 5 !!! My hubby begged me to promise when I get really old not to become a “cat collector”! I just love them to death as well. I just had my persian cat shaved “lion cut” so cute!
Having an attitude of gratitude can definitely get you through a bad day! It took me years to figure this out, hahaha! Here is what I am grateful for:
Tudiabetes.com and all the wonderful people here!
I have a wonderful husband and friends who support me.
That I was able to stop working full time to focus on my internship for grad school.
People like Amanda , my TUDIABETES friend the cake lady , Terrie8 Mom , another one of my buddies , my involvement with the Canadian Diabetes ■■■’n and…receiving last year ( 2008 ) : the National Volunteer of the Year Award…my Hubby , the Supporter ; our Home hosted Rottie Penny …I could go on And all those I did not mention here… lots of GRATITUDE …thanks !!
I’m grateful for a healthy family.
I’m grateful for good medical insurance.
I’m grateful for good health other than diabetes.
Most important, I’m grateful for another day.
