Help the Big Blue Test Effort at Your Local JDRF Walk

Last year, a few TuDiabetes and Diabetes Hands Foundation supporters took to their local JDRF walks to share information about and collect Big Blue Tests.

Mike Lawson and I thought, "WHAT A GREAT PLACE FOR BIG BLUE TEST"! It made perfect sense. It was and IS genious!

A JDRF Walk is a place where everyone is exercising for at least 15 minutes. A great percentage of the people there have diabetes and everyone else is undoubtedly touched by diabetes in some way. AND, to top it off, people are experiencing a strong sense of community and using that power to make change.

Mike and I decided to try it out ourselves. We drove from Northern California to Southern California for the Dodger Stadium JDRF walk. We spread the word and collected over 2,000 Big Blue Tests!

SO, I am writing this post to ask for your help. We are seeking individuals and teams of all sizes to journey to their local JDRF walks and spread the word about Big Blue Test.

If you are already participating in a walk, that is a bonus!

We have a leaders packet to give to each person who steps up to help. It comes with all the information you will need and additional motivational materials!

There are over 200 walks in the United States this year. Below I have listed some walks where we are specifically hoping to have leaders represented. If you want to attend a walk and Big Blue test it up, but at a location other than where is listed below, that is more than welcome!

Ah crap. I just saw this post, and the Busse Wood Forest Preserve walk is TODAY, on my birthday. I didn't even know. I hope someone else was able to do that walk for you. I used to live there. It's about 3 hours from me here in Iowa, but I could have been there. I will most definitely ask for a packet when my local JDRF walk happens at Niabi Zoo here in the Quad Cities. That will be in May though.

Heather,
I keep reading about the "Big Blue Test" on tudiabetes.org but still don't know what it is. What is it? Where can I read about it?
Thanks, Roger

We are in the process of redesigning the web site (it will be launched very soon), but here it is now: www.BigBlueTest.org.

Basically, you test your BG, exercise 14-20 minutes, test again and report your experience on the BigBlueTest web site or using the BBT app. Every time you do it, there's a matching donation made on your behalf that goes to help people with diabetes in need... on top of the benefit you as a PWD derive from exercising. ;)
