Hey everyone, I'm back. :)

So i've realized i never get on anymore.. Darn you facebook! Haha.

This summer has been an amazing one so far, thats for sure! I've done three weeks of helping out at summer camps at the Zoo with five and six year olds, they make my life complete! It makes me think what i really want to do when i grow up (aka in two years) which is go to nursing school and eventually become a pediatric nurse practitioner, or teach first grade. Hmm. :( I've been struggling a lot with it lately because helping out with summer camps makes me realize how much i love the idea of teaching! Oh well.. I have a little while before I have to decide?

Anyways, I started the Omnipod in the fall of '09. It's honestly probably the closet thing to feeling normal in my opinion! I love it sooo much! The insertion barely hurts at all, and while it is a litttle bulky, its really nice not having to worry about any tubing. It hasn't fallen off for me for any random reason. Just don't put it on right before you shower or go into water, because then it will fall off haha. Its sooo much easier just carrying around my PDM and the small black organized case that has a place for everything in it, rather than tons of bags with needles and site changes! I can swim without taking anything off first (now all i worry about it my cell phone lol) and i can be pushed into the pool again.. But i don't advertise that ;)

My A1c has gone up, from a 6.2 to a 7.2 :( But thats because I've been lazy with my sugars and covering. Bad Carly!

I'm going into my junior year of highschool this fall, and i will be taking college classes for free at a local college also. I'm going to be a fifth grade camp counselor for my middle school this fall, which is super exciting!

It's my last year of diabetes camp. I'm going to cry! This year should be awesome though. We're going white water rafting, mountain climbing and repelling, hiking, and doing a high ropes course, and a mud obstacle course! I'm excited to see all of my camp friends and go with my boyfriend of almost one year (a long time for a teenager!) and be a role model ish to the new campers. :) This summer is going to be so amazing, the best yet! :D

Carly, sounds like you’re doing great. I was an RN for 15 years, then switched to teaching elementary school. They are both wonderful careers. Teaching doesn’t have a lot of opportunities now due to layoffs, but that should change over time. Good luck to you!
