How is "Bolus Wizard" and general interface on the Animas Vibe with integrated CGM?

I´m used to pumps from Medtronics and their pump software called "Bolus Wizard" which you use to calculate your bolus. You put in your own values of I:C, insulin acting time and so on,- so when you put in your BG-value prior to a meal you get a bolus suggestion based on all the stuff you previously have put in.

If I´m going back to pumping my new pump will be the Animas Vibe with the Dexcom integrated. How is the above mentioned software on this pump? And how do you like the general interface?

And one last thing; How easy is the access to IOB(insulin on board)?

All replies are welcome.

Thanks,
Siri

If I'm understanding your question correctly, the Animas equivalent of the Bolus wizard is the "ezCarb" option. When you select "Bolus", you should have the four options: Normal (where you just put in how much you want to bolus), ezCarb (you dial in carbs and then it'll ask you to confirm the bg, then it'll show the recommended amount right next to where you dial in the bolus number), ezBG (skips the carb step), and Combo bolus. Now, this is what it's like with the Ping. It's unlikely that they changed the bolusing for the Vibe, but not impossible. The Ping, for me, has been pretty intuitive and user-friendly.

By access, do you mean figuring out how much IOB there is, or changing the length of IOB? If the former, it's included in the ezCarb and ezBG calculations.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, Andrew. It helps :)

Be access to IOB I mean if it´s on the opening screen like it is on the t:slim showed in this picture:

Or if this info is hidden and you have to touch button after button to find it. Do you understand what I mean?

Found this page that explains some of my questions:
Guide

Still wondering wehre to find info about "insulin on board" and "duration time" for this insulin. Anyone who knows?

I don't know anything about the Vibe, Siri, but on the Ping there is not IOB on the home screen like that, but it shows it when you go to bolus either EzCarb or EZ BG

IOB is also shown on Status Screen #2 on the pump which also shows the amount & time of the last bolus. At least it does on my 2020 pump.

I switched from a Paradigm 722 to a Vibe and found it very straight forward. The IOB is the same as Zoe and Annabella have described above on the Ping and 2020 models.

Oh I like that it's on the homescreen there! I check my IOB on my ping all the time, it takes four button pushes to get there if the screen is dark, three button pushes if the screen is already on. It does also show it when you are about to bolus.

Thanks, Lobster.

Thanks, Annabella. I guess it´s the same with the Vibe.

Thanks, Glen. Always good to get info from those who has already been there.

We’re still waiting for the Vibe to be released in the USA, so most of us can’t give you much advice. If you make the switch, please let us know how it goes for you and what you think of the pump and CGM.

Here's an older discussion thread on Animas Vibe, but contains links to more info and the Vibe user guide (UK version) where you can see the details of all menu options.

past discussion on Vibe

Will do, Laddie.

Thanks, MegaMinxX. I´ll read it now. Did search but couldn´t find any similiar discusions.

It had to be a software/hardware engineer or a management person that decided it was OK to bury the Ping IOB four key pushes deep! If they had actually asked and listened to a person that wears their device 24/7/365, they would have found out that the IOB number logically should live on the home screen.

Unfortunately, once a feature has passed FDA approval, the pump companies are loathe to change it. I check the IOB several times a day and now have the moves down in muscle memory. It's OK, up arrow, OK, up arrow.

I salute Tandem for getting this feature right on their first attempt with the T:Slim. It seems panifully obvious to me!
