Short story long…I am a stay at home mommy of 4 wonderful children. My two oldest are boys, and my two youngest, the girls. Felt blessed beyond words…gave birth to my new baby girl this January, and we were over the moon! Then, on March 4, 2010, my second son was rushed to the ER with dangerous levels of glucose and ketones, and diagnosed as an Insulin Dependant Diabetic…and my world stopped turning for a minute…fast foward three weeks…and that is all, THREE WEEKS, and I have been gifted with an opportunity to learn, share, grieve, laugh, cry, and be part of a family of people just like my baby boy, and I am humbled and sobered by the outpouring of love and support I have been given. I am happy to be in this moment…even if it is with a syringe in hand.
Welcome, sorry about your sons diagnosis. This is a great community to be a part of. I have just joined and everyone has been so helpful and supportive.
Hey we’re all one big family here and will help in anyway we can!
Welcome!
Awesome attitude. Your son is fortunate to have a mom like you.
There’s a group here for parents, if you want to join it.
Welcome to our loving family! Sounds like you are doing amazingly well 3 weeks past diagnosis. We are here for you and your family – on the good days and the bad ones! There are hundreds of years of diabetes experience here – right at your finger tips!
How old is your son? How is he coping with his diagnosis?
Well, Andrew is our little guy, aand he was diagnosed twenty days before his 4th birthday. I think he hates the “pinches” which is what he calls the injections, but overall he has accepted this new scedule rather well…some good days, some less than good days, but all of them, we go through together, I am very proud of him, because iif he was any other way, I might lose my marbles.
