I think I was right!

I think I was right in making her dial up only 3 units of Novolog. She was 95 before dinner and ate 40 carbs. Only let her take 3 units. 1 hour later she is 88. She has great numbers just want to keep them up were they need to be. I let her drink a cup of milk? Good decision I think. Any input?

Oh I forgot to mention she was on bike at the gym for 20 mins. today.

If my son checks an hour after a meal, his numbers wont have gone up yet from the food he ate. I would check 2 hours later to get a better clue if what you did worked.

Milk is fine…did you think she couldnt have milk?

From your posts it sounds like your daughter needs less insulin at dinner - maybe you could experiment with a 1:15 ratio? Because I know you did 1:10 with the McDonalds meal and she was 80 at bedtime, and now she had a 1:13 ratio and still was a little low for where you want her to end up. To be 88 one hour after eating sounds great, but ideally she shouldn’t need a glass of milk to keep her in range. (but yes, I think you did the right thing!)
I don’t know how early you caught the progression of the disease, but it’s very common to find that once your start insulin, your child’s body recovers a little and she may need less and less - however, because she’s a teen all bets are out the window from what I’ve heard. . .

No I knew she can have milk its just sometimes others suggest food of some type and she couldn’t eat anything she was full. That and she was sick to her tummy before dinner and I didn’t know if she was coming down with anything. So I was worried on giving her to much Novolog. So I had her get a small dose. All is working I checked her and she is coming up a little

Thanks for letting me know. I think she needs smaller doses of Novolog also. We have been doing 5 units even is her carbs are at 56 and she is doing fine holding within range. We are at day 12 so we are new at this.
