Is My Receiver Dead?

Hello, I’ve searched the discussions here but not really finding what I’m looking for.

I think my Dexcom might have bit the dust. Do they tend to die suddenly? My previous sensor died late last night so I pulled it and went to bed. I didn’t have time to start a new sensor till this evening and the receiver wouldn’t turn on. It was charged yesterday so that’s not it. My system is about 20 months old so out of warranty. I plugged in the receiver and it started to initialize briefly then died again. I’m planning to call customer service in the am but thought I’d ask here in the meantime.

Prior to this it’s been behaving pretty much normally although a couple nights ago I noticed I had no readings. I had assumed I was out of range or had ??? for too long because I entered a calibration the readings picked up again.

I have no idea,,, but will be interested in the response. I just got mine, and was wondering if I will just need to replace the transmitter when it dies, or if the receiver dies as well..... anyone?

It is possible that it has bit the dust (after a couple of years my receiver started having trouble holding a charge for very long). Perhaps try resetting it. On the back of the Dex, to the left of the "6340" of the Dexcom address, is a tiny hole. Stick a paperclip or pencil tip in that hole to do a manual reset. If your label has faded away over time, the hole is on the left side of the rear of the receiver, at about 10 o'clock.

I shut off my receiver one time, and I couldn't get it to restart without plugging it in. Once I plugged it in, it started without a problem. At the time, it was less than 12 months old. I second KevinMR's suggestion. When all else fails, try a reset.

I was able to reset it although it took me a while to figure that one out. I didn’t realize the receiver had to be plugged in while you reset it. Or at least it did for me. Today it’s gone from a full battery charge to a single flashing bar in less than 12 hours so I think the rechargeable battery is dying.

It was such a hectic day at work I didn’t have a chance to call Dexcom today. I’ll give them a call tomorrow or Thursday. Right now I’m 100% covered so it picked a convenient time to start getting flakey though. Not sure that insurance would agree but we’ll find out.

Thanks everyone.
