Hi All,
I am looking for people who would be interested in joining the Triabetes triathlon team for an upcoming event in the Bay Area–the Folsom Olympic Triathlon on August 9. I will post more info soon on this, but team members may receive a discount on entry fees. If you would be interested in racing or willing to volunteer, it will be a great event! Please discuss here or contact me personally for more information on joining Triabetes for this event. The event producer for Folsom has type 1 diabetes himself, and is a big fan of Triabetes. Come join us!
If you can’t make the Folsom race, but would like to be part of our team, we are currently recruiting for people with diabetes to join our team. Anybody is welcome, from beginners–those who have never done a triathlon–to those with a few Ironman races under his/her belt! Or if you just think you might consider doing a triathlon someday, you are also welcome! Ironman participation is definitely not required! But we have a lot of IM athletes on board if that is your thing, too. We will hold periodic, local team training events to share tricks of the trade and enjoy team camaraderie.

I’m nowhere near the bay area but I am very interested in joining the Triabetes team. When I was dignosed last year I was training for a Sprint and needless to say, I had to quit training at that time. I’ve started my training again and think this would be something awesome to join. I’ve checked out the triabetes website and requested more information on the site, but do you know of any events in the midwest?

There are groups all over the U.S. and also members in Canada. The team captains are in the process of reaching out to people interested in joining. If you send me a message with your home state, I can find the team captain for your region. It would be great to have you on board. I think we are already over 100 members.

okay, I’m finding out who your local team captain is. I know there are a bunch of athletes in your general area. Well, more than we have here in Nor Cal so far at least.
Really? I havent ran into anyone yet, but then again I havent been looking either. I’ve done some research and found getmeregistered.com to find local events but that is pretty much where I stand. I think I am going to shoot for the sprint tri on August 15th in Evansville Indiana if you know anyone in my area looking for a race or a possible team.
Well by a bunch I mean more than a couple… Triabetes just broke the 100-member mark, and the athletes are pretty spread out still. But Jim Murphy, one of the team captains, also lives in Indiana. He is here in San Francisco this weekend doing the Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon, and I hope to meet up with him while he’s here. I’ll let him know he has some company in IN. I’ve been out there a bunch of times, myself, because my brother used to live in Bloomington.
