Just got My OmniPod Today! Training on the 26th

After winning an appeal with the insurance coverage over monthly supplies I ot my OmniPod in the mail today. Now I must wait until May 26 for my training. I can’t wait to start on the pump.

Congrats, your going to love to love it!

I have been on the omnipod for 4 weeks i love it when it works
has anyone been geting bad pods I have had 4 bad ones in the last 2 weeks.
they have all been in the middel of the night .
they have been there every time I have called for help
I have been thinking maby I need to look at orther types of pumps
any fees back.

Are you lying on the pod? I wonder if you are it may be pushing the cannula into muscle then you get an occlusion. What does your PDM say for the reason?

I’ve been on the pod for 7 months with very little failures.

Oh yeah===

Congratulations Marty, come on over to the Omnipod Users Group and join the family.

welcome to the podding world!

I have my training with the Omnipod rep on Thursday of this week then go-live with insulin on Tuesday, 5/26.

Marty, that’s so great! I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who actually won an insurance appeal before. Congrats on that and on your pump. I get a demo on Wed for one brand and will then look at another and make my choice. I didn’t have the appeal thing but had a time qualifying with Medicare. Good luck with your OmniPod.

The best part was that my Insulet rep was the driving force behind it. I gave her the Human Resources contacts and she did the rest. It took about a week or so.

I did ther research on all of them and had demos from Medronics and OmniPod. The idea of tubeless was a huge deciding factor for me.

Medtronics’ answer was they will have a tubeless model in a year…

hello marty,i am odessa brown not so new in the community, but somewhat new,if that make any sense.i am type 1 D AND USE MM 722 PUMP WITH CGMS,LOVE THE MACHINES BUT HATE THE TUBING,I WILL BE HAPPY WHEN MM COME UP WITH THE TUBELESS COMBO FOR PUMP AND CGMS TOGETHER.I AND LOOKING INTO THE OMNIPOD,CANNOT DECIDE IF I NEED TO WAIT ON MM TUBELESS COMBO//THANKS

HI MARTY,IT’S ODESSA AGAIN,LET ME KNOW HOW YOU ENJOY THE OMNIPOD,WILL TALK LATER,THANKS

HI DAVE,THIS IS ODESSA,SO YOU THINK MM IS THE #1 PUMP,PLEASE TELL ME WHY YOU THINK MM IS THE BEST?//THANKS

HI DAVID,THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME DECIDE TO LEAVE THE POD WHERE IT IS,IS TRY THE DEMO AND DIDN’T LIKE THE WAY THIS THING STAND OUT.IN LOVE WITH MM BUT HATE THE TUBING.

While not on insulin yet I having been wearing the pump using saline for the past 2 1/2 days. I am using the PDM for all my blood sugar readings going forward and using it like it had insulin. So far, I am glad I went with the OmniPod. The initial activation of the 1st pod was almost painless. Just a small sensation when the cannula was inserted.

I make my 1st change of pods tomorrow…still test w/saline. Going swimming on Monday so I need to think of the best spot for going spending the day at the beach.

marty ,i am very happy for you.have fun at the beach, wishing i was there, bye for now//odessa

I JUST had a shock today…Found out my ins is NOT paying for the PODS…
Cannot believe this…I guess I now have to appeal. Does one have to get the Endo involved as well…??

Good luck! My daughter just started the OmniPod about two months ago. Two months ago her AC1 was 10.3. Today it was 6.7! I’m sure it’s not all OmniPod - it’s the first time with a pump at all but so far we’ve had a really good experience with it.

Just don’t do what I did - when they shipped all of them to me I thought they were preloaded with insulin so I refrigerated my pods for about two weeks until the trainer called to firm up training dates and something was mentioned about insulin. I had to call my daughter - “quick take them all out of the refrigerator!” Luckily it didn’t seem to damage them. She’s only had two pods she’s had to replace.

hi Marty-

did Medtronic said that they will have a tubeless model in a year? i asked bout it the last time i called for the lot 8 recall and they said they dont know anything bout it, coz ive heard it from someone too…

by the way, im switching to omnipod too, aftrer a year of using minimed, just got tired of the tubings, although i would still keep my old pump as i still have about 3 years warranty left on it…:stuck_out_tongue:

im excited to start on the pod…

Sorry for the really late response. That was the rep’s response when I mentioned I was deciding between theirs and Omnipod. The other pump companies did alot of bashing Omnipod especially Medtronic. They focused on the failures as well as the ampunt of insulin the pod carries…200 units to their 300 unit capacity.

How did this turn out, Dee? The same thing happened to me but it was straightened out pretty quickly. I hope the same happened for you!
