okay… i’m a fashion freak, i’ll be on the pump in a week or so for the first time and I was wondering how you guys deal with working with your pump and clothing so it doesn’t look awkward. I love dresses, form fitted shorts, tops, tailored skirts…tank tops… tank tops… more tank tops… and skirts… … i’m obsessed. There are certain things however in my wardrobe i cant picture finding a place to put the pump… i have this chiffon kimino dress thats v-neck in the from and i have myself convinced… “hmm maybe i’ll just take a shot that day when i wear that dress and not wear the pump.” anyways i’m new to this stuff… HELP PLEASE!
OH YEAH the most important summer wardrobe of all!!
bikinis and bathing suits! if i clip my pump to my bathing suit bottom it’ll probably be to my ankles before i know it. AH!
I have the “Sport Pak” (for gym and basketball, etc.)
and the “Thigh Thing” (FOR DRESSES! it might work for lower skirts, too!)
they both work WONDERFULLY!
Just now, I noticed the “Bra Band” on that website, and I laughed!
I just clip my pump right there in the middle of my bra. When I need to.
You can’t tell at all! I have enough in that area to pull it off though of course! lol.
I always clip my pump in the middle of my bra. I too am a fashion freak and am able to wear v-necks (not too low) without being able to tell I have a pump.
No trick for bathing suits. I disconnect my pump and limit my time in a bathing suit. I have took shots to supplement the pump while in a bathing suit, but my physician gave me a fine-tuned plan.
Jill, there are plenty of discussions about this around, but I’m glad you brought it up… Here's one about wearing with a formal dress. Personally, I always wear mine “out” clipped to my pants, or in a cell phone bag or MP3 player bag. If I’m really dressed up, I wear it clipped on the back of my waistband. I never wear dresses, but when I did, I always made sure they had pockets, and I cut a slit in the top of the pocket, and worked it in from the inside. It’s way easier to clip it to your bathing suit if you wear a tankini or bikini, and you can take it off temporarily. Somebody even makes little stickers to decorate the cannula in a million designs. I say wear it proudly!!!
I know this isn’t the most responsible idea, but this is what I do when wearing a bathing suit; I disconnect while I’m wearing it and slip away to the bathroom every hour or so to reconnect and give a bolus of what my basal amount is…if that makes sense. It makes my sugars a little higher than normal but nothing major.
And What I ordered from them is the “Black Velcro Pak - VC”. So where ever am in a formal or a situation where I need to hide the pump (Which I rarely do, but like when playing volleyball or while am in the gym it hold it very good)
Oh my, this is a ladies only post! Oops What am doing here!!
you are lucky! i was cursed with pancakes for boobs haha, but i have kinda experimented with putting my blackberry in my bra to imagine how the pump would fit and it really isn’t that noticeable you’re right!
Funny, I used to clip mine to the front of my bra thinking it wasn’t too noticeable. But one day I realized I looked like I had an “extra,” so now I just clip it to my waistband. Which means I’ve given up on dresses, mostly. But if I ever get invited to a red-carpet event, I’m gonna get one of those cool thigh holsters!!! I keep hoping Manny will organize a tudiabetes prom so we can all get dressed up and show off our interesting ways of wearing pumps. Please petition Manny for a tudiabetes prom!
I am looking for some cute board shorts with pockets that I can wear with a bikini top. I'm sick of taking it on an off, and having it flop around. Anyone find cute board shorts online? Please post. Just ordered a pair to try out from LandsEnd, but not quite as trendy as I'd hope.
