I am interested in knowing if anyone has gone through the Lap Band Surgery for weight. I need to lose about 60 lbs. to be at my ideal weight, but with the back surgeries and bone problems I have it is hard to take off many pounds without exercise. I do small weight 5lbs while I am sitting, but that does nothing in losing weight. I have tried to find infor on cost and anything else I need to know but found generalization on the internet. I am very familiar with the surgery itself but would like to know if anyone had it done did their BG level go down and stay down and you were able to reduce your insulin.
I personally know zero about it. I’m not even sure what it is but I saw a member here mention lap band surgery. Her name is Cynthia.

I too do not know anything about this. But I do need to lose about 30#s myself, mostly wheelchair bound but able to walk with a cane and assistance. I need to get my mobile. I am going to do water aquatic in March at sometime, but I don’t know when it starts. I would like different ideas of anything to do while sitting here. I do lift hand weights at 3#s and lift my legs, but being spring is here soon, I want to run(LOL). Willing to try anything someone can suggest to me…Debe
Hey ;
I know one lady who did it.
My advise:
If your problem is how to control yourself not to over eat(quantity) ; it might be useful./
But if your problem is a matter of what to eat / and lifestyle habits ( no exercise ets ) ; I suggest you not to go for the band.
The band only minimized your stomach size; if you are an emotional eater ; you cannot switch your mind off… even if your stomach is smaller ; you will still desire your food…
A better solution would be to follow Dr. Bernstein’s Diabetes Diet / & Diabetes Solution ; where as you can eat as much as you want and whatever you want ; but need to exclude carbohydrates ( rice, bread, sweets , fruits etc ) Target is not more than 45 carbs per day.
Sounds hard but isnt ; as you will eat lots of nice other stuff which make you full for all day ( Proteins )
Breakfast Omletes / Eggs / Ham / Bacon / bit cheese etc…
Lunch : All kind of Fish / Meat / Veggies / Salad
Dinner : Same as lunch concept…
Additionally: go for a daily 30 minute walk.
You dont need more… just change your lifestyle concept and you will have the best results !
Stay away from operations as those…
Check out also Atkins Diet … but watch out / lower the sugar intake there…
I know this way late but my mama had lap band. she is type 2 and was on the pump at the time. She had it a year ago and has lost 80 lbs and has been off her pump since may. she has done great.
