Medicare approved providers for Insulin Pump Supplies - where are they ?!?!

I have just gone through a list of 10 approved "providers" for Insulin Pump Supplies. I was using CCS and they did not get contract for 2014! So, now I need to find another before my pump supplies run out. Of the 11 listed on the Medicare web site as approved contractors (insulin pump supplies, specifically listed), 2 are out of business and 6 DO NOT PROVIDE supplies for insulin pumps !!!!!! Remainder to call me back and I have still not heard from them after a few weeks. Who makes this list and vets these companies to give them the contracts? It appears, no one. The usual answer when contacted is "Oh, we do not provide supplies for insulin pumps". When informed they are on the Medicare approved list, they just get quiet and say "Sorry". So....has anyone had this problem, I live in Pittsburgh, PA. Any help is appreciated or just sharing if you have suggestions. Thank you.

Sorry you're having this problem. I just started Medicare as well and have had my share of problems, but this wasn't one of them. I've always used Animas for my pump supplies. I never received any list of Medicare providers for insulin pump supplies. But when I told Animas I now was on Medicare (combined with my Anthem insurance) they gave me a list of paperwork I needed to submit to them so apparently they are an approved Medicare provider! I see you are on the T-slim and have no idea if that pump is compatible with Animas products, but I believe it is if they utilize the "luer lock" connection. Otherwise, just disregard!

Thank you for your reply ! I just starting pumping 3 months ago after MDI for years. It surely is different...easy but now I am so much more aware of the variation in my BG numbers...am testing 7-8 times daily. T-slim utilizes leur lock connection as well. So, I am looking for infusion sets (inset 30 and the cartridge that I fill with insulin and install in the t-slim. Love the pump, it is a touch screen like my i-Phone. Had to fight to get the insulin under part B...local pharmacies in the dark! Finally got that worked out, but still needing approved mail order provider for insulin pump supplies. Nothing goes easily it seems...just not right.

So you should be able to use Animas at least for the infusion sets, but not sure if your cartridge is the same. You could check Animas website. https://estore.animascorp.com/

Yep, I had to fight to get insulin under part B as well as my test strips, it took weeks! I also had to lay out a deductible that technically my insurance pays for (though they assure me I will get reimbursed). I got request for labs and logs from Animas and now have one from CVS where I got my insulin and strips. Very annoying! After getting supplies with no problem for 6 years suddenly I have to prove I'm worthy! I can't even imagine how someone would feel who has been doing this for decades! I got spoiled living in Guatemala where I just walked into a drug store and asked for what I wanted. On the other hand I will now have almost total coverage after I get through jumping through these ridiculous hoops, so I guess I can't complain.

Try Edgepark. They are out of Twinsburg , Ohio. I use them as my supplier with my private ( well, employer-sponsored) insurance.

God bless,
Brunetta
