While I could write a looooong story about the nightmare I am going through with Liberty Medical, I do not think it will do any good. They have been my supplier of all Animas supplies for the last 3 years but it is finally time to part ways. I am currently insured by Federal BC/BS and am required to use a supplier other than Animas to get my insets/cannisters. Can anyone recommend a decent supplier to get everything? I am seriously thinking of going back to MDI after the latest issues. Thanks in advance.
I have had some issues with Liberty in the past few months. In the beginning they where excellent but I think they are worried about, things like if there customers are all going to have diffrent insurance policy's at the beginning of the year. I had a hard time getting them to ship a 90 day supply in December, but after a threat of canceling my relationship with them, they shipped a 90 day supply order, this was after shipping 30 day supply orders in October and November, they had never shipped me anything but 90 orders in the past few years???
I would also consider changing suppliers if I could find another one that bills at a zero cost to me. I used Medtronic for many years but they always seemed to get a little more money out of my pocket than Liberty Med.
I am trying Edgepark.com. I thought that the price for my portion seemed a little high so I am going to kept looking. I too am fed BC/BS so I know your pain. I was just about to post to ask where others are getting their supplies from.
But I thought the folks at liberty helped yiou live a better life? Or is Wilford full of it? :D
Diabetes Specialty Center (based in Utah I believe - telling you so you know you've found the right one) When I had Healthnet they were my supplier. Very cooperative and prompt with filling orders. I'd check them out and see if they work with your insurance. I believe they will confirm the relationship with your insurance.
I am also on the BCBS Fed Blue, I still use Animas for all my supply orders, I had to get an override many years ago and never has been a problem since. I suggest you apply for a waiver and use Animas...
CCS Medical has been my provider for pump supplies. They have been great with everything except one area which may not bother some folks. Supplies are shipped on time and primary billing goes off without a hitch.
The issue I have had deals with my secondary. My primary insurance is through my employer and my secondary is Tricare (I am retired Navy). When I initially got my pump last June the primary was billed immediately leaving me with a cost share (expected of course). There were also billings to the primary for two shipments of supplies. To date, despite repeated calls the secondary insurance has only been unsuccessfully billed one time in October (this was an attempt for only the pump itself). It was rejected because it was not completed correctly. I have been on multiple calls with Tricare and CCS at the same time and they (CCS) are just inept at billing).
This really pisses me off as I want this part of it closed out so I can plan the remaining FSA balance. The byproduct of this is that I now get my infusion sets and cartridges from the VA. Only thing I couldn't get through them is the battery cover and cartridge cap. CCS wasn't very happy when that was all that I ordered this past time.
As I said at the beginning though....they were great at scheduling, shipping and delivering the supplies to me (on time). It was only the insurance billing (specifically the secondary insurance) that has soured me to them. BTW...to their credit they have never tried to say / collect the amounts from the primary insurance EOB's though I did get letters from Tricare stating I had no liability for these amounts.
