Minimed transmitter - when is it time to replace?

I’ve had my minimed transmitter for about 16 months, and wondering how long it will last. How will I know it’s time to replace ? Will it slowly stop working/be less accurate, or will it just die or possibly unable to hold a charge ?

Recently I’ve had sporadic readings, and thinking it may be time for a replacement.

I was wondering the same thing. I called the helpline and they told me that they fail suddenly and there is very little warning. Then insurance would have to approve it again I guess. I changed insurance so I am still waiting to see if they will authorize my sensors. I hope my transmitter doesn’t fail anytime soon but it could be any day. When they first came out they said they would last about one year. Obviously they do better than that but we just don’t know how much better.

I have had mine for well over 2 years and use " it" regularly and it is doing PERFECTO …I expect a sudden death .
We are having a Canadian Diabetes Association EXPO here in my town this Saturday and the Minimed Rep is in attendance …I plan to ASK . As I said in other discussions …I think I am addicted to sensors .

The battery will likely be the first component to die. Two years of daily use is pretty good!

I’m totally addicted to my sensors too! The couple of times I’ve actually gone to sleep without them (because the sensor ended late at night and I didn’t want to stay up another 2+ hrs to wet and calibrate the new sensor), I’ve actually had seizures because of lows!!! If my insurance ever stops covering these babies, I’ll just die.
