My first month with the omnipod has been fantastic!
I have not had a single pod fail yet *knock on wood*
I often forget which arm it is in and I do not even feel it unless i go and lay on it then it is rather uncomfortable... I do not feel the tube just the plastic pressing into my skin...
I have not had a single one rip off early and i have even crashed on my bike directly on it and it was just fine.
I really like how I do not have to insert the needle in and it is rather painless
The things I don't like are... the pdms size & the constant beeping for a pod that is over 71 hours old...
All in all I am happy I decided to get the omnipod :)
Hi, Colwood! My 11-year-old daughter will hit the one-month OmniPod mark in 5 days. Our experience has been similar to yours: no Pod failures, no "shriekers", Pods stay put even with swimming (had to shore one up a bit with Opsite Flexifix). We love it!
What I don't love is reading all the negative crap other parents almost constantly say about the OmniPod on a parents forum where I am also a member. It's like they can't get over failed Pods and test strip issues from the past. Oh, well. Glad you are enjoying your Podding experience!
I am very happy to hear that your experience with the OmniPod has been going so well! I have just celebrated a year on the pod last week and have never regretted my decision. My BG control has never been in such good control in the 35 years that I have been diagnosed with T1. Sure, there have been some failures and “screamers”, but is’s a complex medical device and no matter how much “quality control” is built into the manufacturing process failures can still happen. All the “bells & whistles” that Insulet has added to the device are there to help you prevent a critical situation from happening.
I strongly agree with Scott and rgcainmd that it’s nice to see a thread developing that expresses the good things that people are experiencing using the pod. I know that folks use this forum to find solutions for problems that they are having (I have used it many times to get back on the right track)but I think that many times the negativity does overshadow the ability for other people to offer positive help or solutions. For example, when I first had some pod failures my experience with calling Insulet was very frustrating like many people have complained about it on this forum. However once I knew what they needed to help me with future failures, I had that info available and with a little patience and some appreciation for some of their avalanche of problems, each phone call was easier until now I have no frustration when I talk to them.
Anyway I am very happy that your experiences have been very good for you so far, and hope that you feel the same way I feel about it after a year and into the future.
Well I wouldn’t lie, I am here to report I just had my first pod failure it’s October 30 2014 I was going to activate a new pod and it didn’t beep. I could care less about endorsing this company I just wanted to state my true experience. I am happy with the omnipod and their service although as I previously mentioned there is some things that annoy me but that basically sums up life.
Please don’t take this the wrong way I just felt you needed to know it had worked wonders for some people such as myself.
I would recommend the omnipod… But that’s jurt
Me like it or don’t . But please take care my friend !
Colwood please don't take the lack of a beep on start up as a failed pod. Let it prime and install it. If it has a problem it won't prime or activate. Then it is bad. Have tossed non beepers and talked to Insulet. What I shared is what they said and I have found it to be true. Been on the pods for five years and would not go back, to MDI that is. Tubeless is the only pump that I would consider and am very happy with the pods!! Thank you for the positive response as there are too few of them. Take care. Michael
