I first found out I had diabetes around the first week of May 2009. The reason I found out was the week prior I was noticed by other to be flushed all the time and one day I was really red so they sent me down to medical at work to get check out. I had a BP of 156 over 104. I was like that for 4 days, 130 to 164 over 100 to 106. After the fourth day they said go see a doctor, which I did. After I saw the doctor he sent me for blood work, the results were high cholesterol, high blood salts, B12 deficiency, and diabetes type 2. So to use the doctor’s term “you’re a mess.” Not a good term to use with a person who has low self-esteam to begin with. This doctor put me on a water pill(half a pill a day), Lipitor, and Metformin(half pill twice a day). He also said you need to lose weight(like I didn’t know that one already, and I had lost 30 pounds in the 6 months before I saw him.).
Now he also gave me the name and number of another doctor a specialist of interal medicine. I think that what he specializes in, Couldn’t find much out about him on the web. I had a week to wait to get in to see him, that date was May 19. He asked me alot of questions, and his first response after all the questions is you need to lose weight(again like I didn’t know that one). So he weighed me and I was 244 lbs. and I was thinking inside ok 60 more lbs. off and I’ll be at a good weight. Wrong, the next words out of his mouth were you need to lose 100 lbs. That hit me like a shot to the chest killing my good feelings. Anyways, he changed doses of my medications to water pill(one a day), Lipitor(left alone), and Metformin(one pill twice a day). He was going to send me to a diabetes clinic so I could learn more about this, but haven’t heard anything about that yet. The next time I see him is on June 29th.
I weighed myself yesterday and I’m at 238 lbs. that made me happy. =)
