New Dexcom G4 receiver: buttons fell off! (see pics attached)

The buttons fell off the front of my new Dexcom G4 receiver! Has this happened to anyone else? (see pics attached.) I got this new device in November last year, so it's only 4 1/2 months old ...

If you go to the Dexcom Users Group in the group section of TuDiabetes, I think that you’ll find someone else who had that problem. I remember reading the post and seeing the pictures. There is definitely a post about how poorly the receiver is constructedd. A lot of people have had the rail break off near the charger sliding door. Others have had problems with the charger not working because the metal piece gets pushed too far into the unit. I often have the problem that the buttons don’t work. The first timeI push them.

Oh no, I plan to start using mine next month, that is not encouraging! The Seven Plus receiver is a real workhorse, I hate to swap it out for something that will break.

Sue,

Mine hasn’t broken, but it’s much more fragile than the 7+. Since others have had the rail of the sliding door break off, I am super careful every time I slide mine. I hate the case that came with it, so I usually use the Tallygear case that I bought. Almost every time I charge it, it doesn’t start charging the first time I put the charger in. It usually takes 2 or 3 tries. Since I have always been able to get it to charge, I haven’t called Dexcom about that problem yet.

So unfortunately it’s not as sturdy as the 7+. But it looks better and is more accurate, so I don’t complain too much.

oh my, did you get it wet or something? i'm not a huge fan of this receiver. it's OK, but i almost liked the 7+ better. I also find the download data very cumbersome and my sensors come off every time around day 3 but that's just my opinion. hope they replace it for you.

Just an update: Dexcom customer service took one look at the pics and shipped a replacement to me via Fedex. Should be here tomorrow with a return kit for the old unit. Score one for Dexcom customer support .....

Thanks Laddie,

I'll be ordering the G4 sensors soon, still have two Seven Plus sensors left. The G4 receiver fits nicely in my Spibelt, or I can also clip the case onto my Spibelt belt and put my pump in the pocket part. The more gadgets around my waist the merrier!

Yep, that happened to me just after you and they were super fast to replace it!

I had noticed that the center button wasn't very responsive already before it fell off!

Yep, mine fell off my lap and landed on the floor in similar pieces. Dexcom replaced it next day :)
