Ive used 2 or 3 navigators 2 older dexcoms and
this 2 week old g4
Until this week NEVER had any breakage issues
In 2 weeks the plastic case has broken in 2 different places One the "rails" that cover the USB port slider a piece broke out of the middle
Today the button wheel stopped working and fell out Its held in with 2 very thin plastic flanges about a 32 in long and one of them broke
the first break was bad only because it was 1 week old at the time It was still usable
Now its not ....
Based on the lecture I received about them evaluating the returned device for water damage and requiring PREPAYMENT for the warranty replacement IN CASE there was water damage - Im pretty sure this will be my fault
I attached a picture of the wheel and if you look at the 9:00 position you can see the tab - there was a matching tiny little tab at the 3:00 position ..... Its sheared off -
Receiver never dropped- less than 2 weeks old and still has plastic on display from factory
Disappointed Should be built to stand up to daily use
Wow, that's crazy! I beat mine up and have had ZERO issues with it (it goes on all my mountain bike rides with me). It's been solid as a rock (knock on wood!). Sorry yours seems so flimsy.
The circle (or "wheel") around my button popped off two days ago. Dexcom said it can't be snapped back in, and said it wasn't my fault. I got a new receiver today. They said if my old receiver showed signs of abuse they would call me and explain I would be charged for it. Overall pretty pleased with the process (for now).
I got the same lecture. Thats why I started with the list of CGMS systems Ive had with NO issues... Its crappy customer service to assume that all your customers are causing the issue. Especially when they admit its not your fault. Let me translate what they said "We have had LOTS of calls with the same exact problem, and its a known flaw in the design, but we like to threaten you with paying for it if we decide that its been scratched"
I haven’t had anything break with my Dex Gen4 yet, but I agree that it seems to be cheaply made and I worry that it will come apart. I often have to push the button twice to get the unit to respond. Also, I occasionally have it not start charging when I plug in the charger.
During the holidays, my wheel came off as well but Dexcom send me one in less then 24 hours. They asked for my credit card number in case of water damages but end up not paying anything. I was very satisfied with customer services. I thought that it couldn't handle the cold temperature of Quebec but now I see that it's just made cheap. I can't wait to be able to receive the data on a smart phone instead.
I've had 2 G4's with broken rails. The first was replaced, and 4 weeks later, the new one is broken... Getting a little fed up with the quality of this device.
Got it - thanks! Has anyone noticed a change in performance after getting a broken rail? After the button popped off on my kid's G4, it started acting funny and would spontaneously go "out of range" for an hour or two all the time even when it was right next to him. It was pretty unusable without the wheel, but I kept it going just to see what would happen.
i haven't noticed any issues with performance. I wasn't even going to contact Dex until I saw the other people in this post with similar problems. I emailed my local rep today to see what he thinks.
Ha ha - your frustration is so palatable. I didn't have an issue putting it in the G4 box, then in the envelope, and sealing it closed - sorry for all your hassles.
YEP - Im frustrated and concerned that the company that I spend between $10,000 and $15,000 a year with cant do a better job of customer service.
Did no one on their end try to put THEIR box in the envelope they provide ?
I'm not even giving them a hard time for NOT including the fedex label with the warranty replacement receiver.
When you are that negative and aggressive with customers calling in for support it sets the tone for the rest of the interaction. When they open every conversation accusing me of, and demanding that I be prepared to pay for water damage. It puts me back on my heels a little.
I havent even yet mentioned that Im also a stock holder...
They replaced mine in December and I told them the envelop was too small. They're still doing it? That's plain dumb... The "replacement" G4 is now broken, same rail problem. It's just a bad design...
