I currently use the minimed 512 pump and I have been reading about the omnipod and was just wondering if it would be worth switching too. From what I have read it seems easier to use than the one I am currently using. To me this one gets in the way of my clothes and everything and things get tangled up in the cord too easily! So what do y’all think? Would it be worth the switch? Or should I stay with what i have now?
Have you tried the demo pod yet? I’d highly suggest doing so, if you haven’t. It gives you a good feel of whether or not it will/won’t be in your way. I’m on the omnipod, never been on anything else and I love it. It isn’t as obvious as some people say, and even with slim-fitting clothes (I’m pretty small) you really can’t notice it. But, try it for yourself!
okay! thanks!! where can I get the demo pod? I have been on the Minimed Medtronic pump since I was 12 and I am now 19. Where do I start to contact people about it to figure out if my insurance will cover it and all that?
Hi
I tried the pod and didn’t like it along with several others. I choose the Animas pum because it seemed the be the best built and their customer service was great, plus it fits perfect in a cell phone case and is totally water proof ( I swim alot). Hope this helps.

I use Animas Ping and am happy with that. The one thing with the demo, I have seen alot of people say that the demo does not stick very well but they did not have that problem with actual pods. I was turned off by the size and did not wear my sample.
How often do you submerge your pump, and at what depth and duration? I rarely get mine wet. Im wondering what makes the Ping water resistant. Is it the cartridge gasket?
Definitely try the demo! It was actually what got me to pick it in the first place (though I’m switching to the Ping because of insurance coverage). I’m a little worried about the tubing since OmniPod is the only pump I’ve ever know. GOod luck!
I had omni pod before my 722, and I didn;t like it at all. The needles sometimes didn’t retract all the way and its super hard to see the screen on the PDM.
Plus I use CGMS and its really awesome to not carry around 2 different devices
After wearing the demo pod, I made the switch from the 512 to the Omnipod. I could sleep at night without getting twisted up in tubing. I have been on the pod 2 days now and I have had great BG numbers as well. I was VERY sceptacle at first, but I was hooked after the first night of rest. I would agree, that you give it a try.
I love the ping. I bought a cell phone case to put the pump in, the tube comes out the side instead of sticking straight up like their clip. The case also helps protect the pump and tube. It is the easiest one I’ve ever used, I think you will like it.

If you hold the “?” button down for a few seconds the screen lights up brighter. I switched from the Minimed 522 about one year ago and have not regretted it. I’m out in the cold weather alot in the fall (I hunt) and had issues with the tubing. With the pod, it is under all my cold weather gear and works perfect.
I go swimming alot I also don’t have to remove it when showering. I also don’t have to remove it when I snorkel. After 3 years I have had zero problems. I rearly go down deeper than 15 ft for much more than 30 min. but the unit itself has been on me and underwater for hours floating around. I guess it depends on your life style.
interesting. I usually just detach my Ping when I shower. Good to know that you have not had any water issues with it. makes me feel better about my choice
