New Medtronic 530 pump

I called In early December about the upgrade. Was told to fill out the paperwork, and signature on their website, which I did. Reply said I would be contacted. Heard nothing.

Since February was the expected delivery date, I called today..was sent to a rep who knew nothing about my request; said it had all been handled poorly... Could not answer any questions and would need to contact a supervisor, who would need to contact people above him. If I did not hear from him in a few days I SHOULD CALL HIM BACK?

I am truly sorry to those I am about to offend, but WTF? I pay them about
$15,000 per year for pump and senor supplies and this upgrade process "was handled poorly?" I am dismayed.

I would not call him but initiate the process through your endo. Give them a second chance.

Another way to approach it is to complain to @medtronic on twitter. I tried calling them about the Enlites, right at the launch but the CSR types wouldn't answer questions about using with a 523 pump. There was some chatter about it on Twitter, I think someone else but the Medtronic Twitter team got in touch with me pretty quickly and I got to someone who directed me to have my doc write the rx/ letter of medical necessity and that would get 'er done and I had the new sensors within a week.

I was not going to bother my endo, as this is just a "trade-in." I was told she was not required for this transaction. They seemed more intent on explaining the cost I would have to pay. Twitter is a great idea, AR. Thanks to both of you.

I have had nothing short of a horror show with my upgrade. I called back in September and still nothing. Run around city. The latest is now "my insurance". I don't believe them because I have talked with my insurance several times. Medtronic has dropped the ball BIG TIME on their loyal customers with this upgrade program. I know "New" clients of theirs have had the new system for months. I am actually on this forum today thinking of switching companies all together. But, I hate change.

After I used AR's advice and contacted MM on twitter, I thought things were moving forward, but, then, a complete void.

Even their employees told me that they were dropping, had dropped the ball. COME ON MEDTRONIC! When employees say that to customers--you have a HUGE problem. You must believe that the various social media channels are telling you the truth.

One more year to my replacement date. Am forgetting about an upgrade.... Suggestions on a NON Medtronic pump?

I filled out the pathway form on Medtronic web sight last year when the program started, they called me Monday and asked if I still wanted to up grade....I said yes and they had all of my paper work done including new sensor order...I received new
pump and supply's yesterday. I was told that they have just finished delivery to all of the newbies that where promised 530 pumps when they ordered new pumps last year. It was first come first serve when we singed up for pathway.....

I got my 530g within about 6 weeks. Not quite "right away"; but o.k. for me as I was not paying. Did any one higher than the ones who answer the phone tell you why it is so long that are they making you wait for an upgrade, Spock?? But I was one of the "newbies" promised a new pump as I just got the 523 delivered in January 2013.

God bless

Surprising. On the Sales side of the house they are pretty good. They called me in December about upgrading since I am eligible. I'm not wasting the money since my current pump is still working. Have they submitted to insurance? Good luck.

Brunetta, I think you hit the nail on the head. I was told that the dropping of the ball happened with existing Medtronic pump users. They had a backlog of new users and pushed to get the Enlite for them once approval was given. But once that was all done, they did not make the same kind of effort to assist existing Medtronic pump users as they did the newbies.

And yes, I worked up the ladder a bit and was told all along the upwards climb that they had "made mistakes, dropped the ball, could have done a better job, it was handled poorly etc."

I had better call to check on the status of my order for new sensors. The rep didn't sound as jolly as they usually do but I may have been grouchy or driving or maybe grouchy and driving at the same time. It's got some other supplies involved. Somehow, when I switched docs, I got a double order so I haven't gotten anything for a LONG time but am a bit concerned that I will run out if the Enlites hold up the proceedings.

I am not new to pumping, Spock. Just newbie within the time frame of being on the free upgrade program. I have been pumping for 11 years, all with Medtronic pumps. It took about 5 weeks or so until I actually got the free upgraded 530g.You will get your pump. I think they actually want everyone to be on a 530 g.

God Bless,
Brunetta

Acid,My Enlite sensor order order was slow coming through my medical supplier, Edgepark, as well. They said that they had a backlog of Enlite orders. . They also said something about having to get a new script for them, which my endo did provide
Took about 4-5weeks. I had gone back to using the Sof-sensors with the 530g and they ran out, so I am just getting back to using the Enlites, as the order just came in on Wednesday..

God bless,
Brunetta

I was out of warranty so I called and heard nothing for a couple of weeks. So I went on Twitter and I got a call the next day. That was in Oct. I had the pump sent to me in about a week, so I don't know why the upgrade process is any different from a newer replacement pump? I have never used the upgrade process as my Endo had started the first pump for me. I was told to call by my Endo when I was out of warranty so I did.

You can use the soft sensors with the 530???

Last week my Endo was anxious about me getting the MM upgrade. He wants me to get it but, I just received a 3 month supply of sensors. So, I thought I would wait and use those up before ordering the upgrade. Hearing how it's taking a while for everyone to get their upgrade I'm wondering if I should start the process now. What do you think?

Is there any Forum for someone on a Medtronic pump.

Thanks.
