I called at 6am (PDT) this morning hoping to get info about my order. I had to wait for 20 min on hold! This is at 6am, the moment they open for the day!! Really? 20min hold time even though I could have been the first to call? And a very sleepy sounding woman answered, seeming annoyed like I woke her up from her sleep.
And she tells me it takes 14 business days for the order to get processed so she looked up my order and said it’s not even begun the process yet because it’s been only 5 business days!
John, sorry you are having such problems. Because I what I read here, I decided to just get my supplies elsewhere. I am not sure if this is feasible for you, but it might just save your sanity. I ordered from an online pharmacy and had them shipped in three days. It took a day to get me set up in the system, so next time it will only be two days (with option to ship overnight at no additional charge). Is this something that you can do?
Thanks for the info, Mike. I’m new to pumping and I don’t know what my insurance says about ordering from someone other than Medtronic. I’ll look into it. Can you tell me which online pharmacy you order from?
I get my Medtronic pump supplies through Liberty Medical Supply. Very satisfied. They handled the recent recall for their customers, as well. My insurance is through BC/BS and they have not questioned this.
John, I had a similar experience recently with the phone service. My supplies were stolen after the UPS guy left it on our porch - my husband saw the perp run up to our porch, steal the package, and just in a truck to fun off. The UPS truck stalker waved when he left… so that made it all better. sarcasm Anyway, I called Medtronic the next morning early and had to wait 10 minutes. The first time the woman who answered (after the long wait) said she needed to transfer me to “returns”. Instead of transferring me, she hung up on me. There was NO WAY I was calling back to wait on the phone for an eternity. Instead I found an old email from a sales representative who had contacted me (by email) when I was buying the pump. I sent her an email explaining what happened and to PLEASE HAVE SOMEONE CONTACT ME. Within an hour someone from “Returns” called me and I got my order expedited.
They really do need to work on their phone service. A 20 minute wait for ANY reason is unacceptable.
Wow Patra. That is unbelievable that somebody would be “ballsy” enough to steal a package off of your porch that was just delivered. And then waving as they drove off? Some people! I am glad that it was resolved and you got your supplies. Long hold times are never fun. I am starting to think that email is a better form of communication because you have a history and can get a read receipt. More of an instant satisfaction sort of thing.
I need to be more careful about letting the delivery guys leave stuff on my doorstep! That’s a worrying trend that thieves follow delivery trucks and make off with packages like that…how are we supposed to stop that?
How do you plan to deal with deliveries left on your porch? I’d be perfectly willing to go and pick up my packages at the local UPS/FedEx location to avoid such things. Maybe I should call them up and discuss if we can do this.
I had them change the delivery address to my work address. We won’t let the delivery trucks leave stuff on our porch anymore. They will either come here to my office or we’ll make sure to check the box that states a signature is required. If you aren’t home they leave a message on your door saying when they’ll be back by or where you can pick up your package.
And we did call the police, but they said to report it to the postal service. They weren’t much help, but I guess there wasn’t much they could do.
You know, I have thought of doing something like that also (going to the FED-EX office). I have thought about somebody stealing my stuff, but now I am REALLY thinking about it. My wife is normally home, but a child car seat was stolen from our porch while we were home also. So, I dunno. Can we just call Fed-Ex and have them hold for pickup whenever they deliver? If you call John, let me know. I would call, but don’t have the time to be put on hold (i have had horrible experiences with Fed-EX)
Ya I commented about how well it was handled the first time I called medtronic cs I take it all back I order online always placed order on 13th had to call yesturday 30min. hold time got no reason why my order was still in limbo at first they tried to say my insurance had change so not true so after being put on hold again for anther 15min. finally was told I would have 1 box in 2 adys well see how that works out.
HI.
MEDTRONICS IS A OK PUMP, BUT BELIVE NOT ENOUGH PRESION WHEN DELIVERY THE INSULIN, HAPPENS TO ME CHECK MY SUGARS WITH FINGER STCKS AND GAVE THE RIGHT INFO TO THE PUMP, BUT GUESS WHAT.NOT ALWAYS. SUGARS SKY ROKET, YOU KNOW WHY, I,M USING SURE-T, THE NEEDLE IS TOUCHING NERV OR FAT, WITH THE POOR PRESSURE THE INSULINE GET ENCAPSULATE, BEST MASSAGE THE CANULA OR NEEDLE AREA, AND YOU WELL SEE THE DIF.ABOUT SUPPLIES.
WORST COSTUMER SERVICE 3 DAYS TO CONTACT THEM, THEY TOLD ME THE HAVE A NEW PHONE SYSTEM,.
I would like to know how often these folks call the tech support line for their pump company…it is the phone number posted on the back of their pump, NOT the order services line they are talking about in this part of the blog.
I have had the same problem with them i called three times in a month asking about my supplies they keep telling me it can take up to 2 weeks mama i said its been a month i have two left well we will try to get them out soon i said no they will be here tomorrow the best they did was 4 days. they have not been good at all i have had them 2 years and i am switching i am luck my insurance is paying for my new one 100 percent and it will be her in the morning. i have switched to accu-chek spirit. i am so excited go that all done from the first time i talked to them and here in less then 2 weeks.
I agree with you John. I am leaving MiniMed after 24 years on their pump. This being one of the many reasons. I am switching to Animas and will get my IR 1250 this week. I don’t want the ping…love my meter way too much plus it’s a smidge bigger than the 2020…yet I don’t find the need for the color screen which is the only diff from the 1250. Anyhow trialed the omni and loved it, but I like the Animas best.
Well, my son has pumped with Mini Med for 4 years now. When I had problems with his pump a year ago - the battery wasn’t working, it would shut off etc… i had a new pump within 24 hours. I have always been pleased with their service - whether it was for the supplies, pump questions or getting a replacement pump. He is due for a new pump in January, and they are supposed to contact me re: that, so I will see how my service goes - I may be a little more critical now since I know there are so many complaints. I will hope for the best though since I have never had issues like others. Nancy
Good luck Nancy, hope it goes smoothly for you. I’ve been using their pumps for 5+ years and have had good service. In fact, the other day I had a sensor that had a needle that looked somewhat bent. Called them and they apologized and when I got the replacement, they sent me 5 of them instead of just 1. I called about, not wanting to get a wrong order, and they just told me compliments of MM. Lucky me!
