New Medtronic pump to come out later this year

Ugh, I hated my BD meter. I love the OneTouch much better… in my experience they are reliable.
I just wish that the OneTouch meters that talk to the pumps came in the same color as the OT Minis…

I think the concept of the OmniPod is cool, but I think I would be too OCD about that lump under my clothing…
I got to play with the OmniPod once at a general pumping class at the local children’s hospital… they had reps from all the major pump companies there. I ended up switching from my Animas to a Minimed.

I talked to Medtronic a couple weeks ago & that guy said within a year & their pod would be smaller than previous ones.

I heard the same thing from our local MM clinical specialist this week.

i have had great luck with the one touch system ultralink, but to be honest i have only ever used one touch since i was diagnosed in 1989.

How about pre-filled reservoirs for the MM series, that would be nice.

I spoke with a Medtronic rep yesterday and he said that they would be rolling the pods out in Europe sometime next year and based on trials etc would apply to FDA for approval for use in the USA after that, for what that is worth?

Hi Cody

I’ve heard the same thing too from my diabetes clinic. Medtronic is notorious about pre-stating things are coming out. The kept telling everyone CGMS was coming and t took them years to do. But I think the POD is a lot simpler thing to implement so I suspect the product will be out next year as promised.
Johnson and Johnson/Animas are just the opposite. They never say anything about what is coming out.
