New software update for Tandem T:slim pump

Works fine for me. Are you sure the update went through?

What? I do this all the time. Maybe some other issue going on?

That was what a lot of people resorted to with the old Medtronic 680! But I personally haven’t run into this glitch with the new firmware.

Jane, I am able to log in but Tandem Source cannot access my USB port to connect the pump.

I just want to update my experience with the Tandem upgrade. Neither Safari or Chrome browser worked. I updated my Mac Book from Monterey to Sequoia, neither browser worked. Chrome worked fine to do the battery discharge issue but not now. Against my desire to not have MS on my computer I downloaded MS Edge which allowed me to complete the upgrade.

I was a bit concerned because my pump shows C IQ not C IQ+, but it allows me to do extended bolused. I have a postprandial rise about 2 hours, partly that’s how my body runs, made worse by prednisone.

I have no problem doing override meal or correction boluses.

I do not like that some of us have to jump through fiery hoops to get it to work and others can’t get it to work at all.

I trust my old brain to be better at extrapolating than any algorithm. To get the extended bolus right I have to enter much higher carbs than eaten and do the percentages that work.:graduation_cap::face_with_monocle:

I googled Macintosh and Tandem Source and USB port and a lot of information popped up that may help you.

Thank you, Jane! Tomorrow I’m meeting with my trainer, who will help to get me this update. If she isn’t able to, then I will do some research, especially since I will need to figure this out for the next update, whenever that comes along.

The update is installed!! Hooray!! Initially my pump trainer got stuck at the same point as I was having here at home, with the USB trying to connect problem. She kept trying and trying and finally, after about a half hour, got it to work. She thinks possibly something is amiss with my USB port on the pump. My pump is rather new, acquired in July of last year, but I have a terrible time connecting the cord to the port every time I do the charging. Maybe I somehow damaged it but it’s all speculation. I now use a magnetic charging cord so it’s less wear and tear on the port. My trainer did say that Tandem makes one jump through hoops to get a replacement pump, just in case something is wrong with mine, but so far it’s working.

So glad you got it done. I agree there is a problem with your pump-port connection.

OMG!!! I’m so glad that I found this topic!
I got an update email, and read the tutorial (which didn’t seem to be nearly involved enough to be called a tutorial), but my diabetes care manager suggested that I wait a while to see if there are any glitches … golly gee whiz!!!
Well, my pump warranty runs out in August, so i think I’ll wait and just get a new pump that starts it’s life as a CIQ+ device. No updates for me! Thanks, but no thanks!

BTW, someone mentioned needing a cable. I got 3 when I got my pump, but I have kept up with where you can get them, just in case. Tandem now has a pump accessories store on Amazon, and it looks like the original cord, according to the reviews.
Though you have to read the reviews to be sure. The picture doesn’t show the ā€œTā€ insignia on the cable, but at least one person mentions that its there on the plug.

Late to the party, but can’t say I’m surprised by some of these comments.
I’m relatively new to tSlim, mostly chose it because my ins wouldn’t pay for Medt sensors, but no problem for Dex. Go figure.
So I wasn’t in a big rush to do the update, but I got the email and figured sure why not.
A brief story:

Like @Willow4 said way up on this thread, I am definitely not installing Edge or Chrome just to do this. There are quite good reasons I use only Firefox on my Windows system. It’s not a weird or unusual browser, and I can turn off the ā€œantiā€ stuff as needed for something like this.

I saw the notice about browser compatibility, but the webpage let me complete the mandatory tutorial, so I figured I’d try. No luck.

Again, because I’m not in a rush, I put in a help ticket for a tech question to the main tandem contact page, basically asking if there was any way to download or receive (I mean, I’d be perfectly happy with a flash drive by USPS) the update file(s) separate from the online method with its specific browser requirements.

I got a call back within a day or so, they left a nice message, but basically no: you must have Edge or Chrome and do it online. Although interestingly, they also said an Apple product would work. Didn’t say Safari specifically, but there seem to be some mixed reviews about that in this thread.

I am sensitive to news of failures of institutional knowledge, and hat tip to @DrBB for that reminder.

This seems like a modest upgrade that really could and should have had a flawless rollout, so a cynical me might wonder if they rushed it to create some hype before end of Q1, and the tech/rollout side got squeezed.

It was a system glitch. After updating the APP, it was okay since.

It is fine now after updating the APP.

No issues upgrading to the new vesion.

I’m nervous to upgrade in case it bricks my pump. Maybe I’ll give them more time to work out the kinks. My pump has never been updated as it’s pretty new

I’m arriving late to this – to me, a long thread. Back when I faced the firmware/software notice I also faced these:
• I’m a longtime Mac & Safari user, but also have added / downloaded & installed many free apps incl. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and numerous utility extensions etc.
• even in direct telephone conversations w Tandem tech support I could not overcome the poorly implemented (FDA-required?) overly basic & overly long tutorial.
• after some time I learned of the new 2-page tutorial, and so I completed it without any compu-glitchy stuff;
• I knew to use the Tandem-provided cable with its inline fat intermediary device ensuring their data PROPERLY is integrated into the Tslim X2 chip(s);
• i, too, hate the pump designers’ choice to use mini-USB for software, internet + pump charging - and as my eyesight has deteriorated over the recent several years I also hate the ā€œtinyā€ cartridge insulin port.

Just commiserating and perhaps to lift spirits >>> I made it through all of those tasks. Now all we have to do is adapt to the Adminstration’s inevitable ill-executed up-down\left>RIGHT< …no… that’s left now / but now is UP except in some situation it’s back to BEFORE we started changing rules that will be curving like the elegant adhesive-cover. ;–)

That thing on the cable is a ferrite core chock to prevent external noise. I just use a cable that passes data as well as DC.

Chrome worked for me until this update. I had to download Edge on my Mac

When the t:slim x2 first came, USB-C was a raising star. I use a cable with a round magnetic connector (Amazon link below). I use on everything so I’m rarely looking for a specific cable.
